As of 8:10 Central time, Google's home page does not acknowledge our fallen soldiers.
A couple weeks ago, I remember Google's home page noted the birthday of Sherlock Holmes creator Arthur Conan Doyle.
I s'pose the defenders of freedom aren't as important to the Clinton-supporting Democrat party donors who created Google.
I'm trying out http://clusty.com/
I'm done with Google.
BTW, I hope that some that are unhappy about this are going to email Google with your disappointment and/or post in their message boards.
Are you OK.
Does Yahoo usually acknowledge holidays like Google does?
It may not just be google!I have tried without success for 2 days to locate free downloads of patriotic music(specially "gary owen"custer's 7th cavalry theme).Cannot find same of John Wayne,Lee Greenwood, etc.nor ANY MENTION OF MEMORIAL DAY!Is someone trying to destroy our patriotism?Answer,YES.
"WE ARE SORRY THAT WE DID NOT RECOGNIZE A DAY THAT WAS IMPORTANT TO YOU."
Hmmm... I just went to Dogpile and it IS Memorial Day there!
Thanks for posting.
Is Dogpile American?

The fact is, I hardly ever see the Google home page recognize much of anything. I would think the day the owners decide to take over the Universe, all they need to do is find a handful of companies with more money than Godot and open the page up to advertising. Four square inches on that page would have to make Super Bowl advertisers look like pikers.
Do you just like to go out of your way to find things to complain about?
Your browser must be blocking .gifs.
This is on their homepage.
Look at the website for the US Air Force band.
On Google's User Discussion Board, here is Google's reply to the complaint that they are not honoring Memorial Day:
Google's reply:
"Thank you for your note. We're glad that you appreciate Google's
holiday logos and would like to explain why we didn't post one for
Veterans day this year. Please be assured that the decision whether to
display a special logo for a holiday does not reflect any judgment on
our part about the holiday itself. Google's special logos tend to be
lighthearted in nature. If we were to commemorate Veterans Day, we
would want to express reverence, rather than mirth. This would be a
particularly challenging design. We would not want to, in any way,
create a graphic that could be interpreted as disrespectful. In light
of the mail we've received about this, we're actively considering
designs we could display on this day next year. We welcome any
suggestions you may have. My response to them was simple. Merely post
the logos for the four major services, Marine Corps, Army, Air Force,
Navy, and be done with it. A simple design, but still shows respect.
Another symbol could have been the rifle, muzzle in the ground with the
helmet on the butt of the rifle, with the boots in front of it. That is
a symbolic gesture, honoring dead soldiers and Marines. But did they
take any suggestions? Nope."
