"I wonder if BlackHawk Down is on this weekend."
It was on a few nights ago. As the wife of an Army pilot, I still cannot watch the beginning of that movie. However, whenever I need to remember why I hate Clintoon, all I need to do is tune in when it is on.
God bless our soldiers.
Warren, I meant Moore.
Ronnie,
Thanks for the heads up!
It was the most moving recessional I ever heard, as his coffin was being taken out of the cathedral.
Yeah, it will play at my home on DVD.
TeeVee is bad for you....

Thank you for posting a photo in your Post No. 34, Gamecock, which also graces the book cover of:
'WE WERE SOLDIERS ONCE...& YOUNG'
...This is the book by Lt. Gen. HAL G. MOORE (Ret) & JOE GALLOWAY' upon which the 2002 RANDALL WALLACE Motion Picture is based.
The Soldier shown at the Battle of IA DRANG-1965 is one Lt. RICK RESCORLA who:
Saved 100's of lives during the Battle of IA DRANG-1965
Saved 100's of lives during the terrorist Bombing of the World Trade Center-1993
Saved 1,000's of lives during terrorist Airstikes on the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center
...after personally predicting those same terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center well in advance.
...Only to end up to giving himself up in the process:

That is RICK RESCORLA's NVA/French bugle shown being picked up by a SkyTrooper in the IA DRANG Valley during "WE WERE SOLDIERS."
RICK RESCORLA's IA DRANG-1965 heroism is highlighted in 35 different index references in the book.
RICK RESCORLA is not indexed (depicted) at all in the movie.

Thanks for this. I had forgotten just how beautiful that service was. It was a kleenex moment.
Thanks for posting this. I was going to mention it.
I downloaded it onto my iPod yesterday, but it's not a particularly good version.
.
See RICK RESCORLA's 'Follow Me' bronze statue, that was joyfully unveiled April 1st, 2006 in front of the National Infantry Museum at Ft. Benning Ga:

What day of the week is this aired?
Looking forward to the movie. I haven't seen it since it first came out in theaters. Can anyone tell me where I can find the lyrics to "Sgt Mackenzie" (is that right)? I'm "hearing-impaired" - somewhat deaf to us old guys - and I loved hearing that song but never could make out the words.
ping to #58....
After Mansions of the Lord, Sgt. MacKenzie will play....
Thanks for this thread!
Without it, I'd have missed it for sure!
