This sounds a lot like sKerry's "global test."

I know that this is preaching to the choir but, isn't Dick Durbin: Consult with Mexico on Border Fence along the lines of al Qaida consulting with America on the best way to kill more Americans??

"We ultimately want to have the cooperation of the Mexican government," Durbin insisted. This is soooo simple. Cooperation is easy.
We build - they watch. There ya go!

I don't know of any of my family since 1742 in the USA has consulted with the neighbor to built a fence. We always told the neighbor we were going to put up a fence but never ever asked their permission.
Dubin and several other senators need to move to Iran a few years. Hello even move to Mexico and get a taste of restrictions.
Kerry of course needs to Move to North Vietnam. Gawd! The people of Mass. cannot be that stupid to reelect Kennedy and Kerry.

I'd like to know what "consult" means. Does that mean Mexico has any say in the fence, or only that we'll tell them when and where we're building it?

One of my friends sent me a great solution this morning:
Dig a moat the entire length of the border
Use the dirt to reinforce and elevate the New Orleans levees
Put Florida's alligators in the moat. Dick Durbin too.

It does indeed sound like Kerry's 'global test' and makes no sense unless you're moving heaven and earth to prove that you're unable/unwilling to protect US interests and citizens. Since this is exactly what Mexico(and the rest of the hemisphere), dream about, you have to wonder how many US senators they've paid off.

No need to consult with Mexico.
They can paint their side if they want.

This says a LOT for Senator"Turban's"regard for the sovereignty of The United States of America!Does this not represent a violation of his OATH of Office??
To: wagglebee
we are just building the fence to keep in all those americans from illegally entering mexico, we just want to help their illegal problem

Maybe Durbin would also like for us to consult with Osama Bin Laden on having our military in Iraq and Afganistan. That would make about as much sense as consulting with Fox on a border fence when his one goal in life seems to be to flood the US with his poor and unwanted peons.

How about, "We're building a fence on your side, and you're going to build it, pay for it and maintain it. Or else."

Several years ago a crackhead living behind me stole my car and then sold it to shady auto dealer - who then sold it to someone else.
The police did very little because I had no evidence as to who actually took the car. It took me 2 weeks and about 50 hours of my own detective work to track down my own car and have the police recover it (since they now had evidence).
Do you guys think it was rude of me to start locking my car without receiving permission from the crackhead?
I'm worried I may have offended him. Maybe I should return the restitution money he had to give me.

"The number two Democrat in the Senate is urging the House of Representatives not to repudiate a provision in the immigration reform bill that would force the U.S. to consult with Mexico before building a border fence." Well, that's appropriate... I always thought that Durbin was 'number two' (in child speak) myself.

Senator Dubrin has mental problems, or maybe he is just a traitor. This is still a sovereign country and we do not need nor should be ever ask an enemy nation (Mexico certainly has become one) permission for anything dealing with our national security.

d) Consultation Requirement.--Federal, State, and local representatives in the United States shall consult with their counterparts in Mexico concerning the construction of additional fencing and related border security structures along the international border between the United States and Mexico, as authorized by this title, before the commencement of any such construction in order to-- (1) solicit the views of affected communities; (2) lessen tensions; and (3) foster greater understanding and stronger cooperation on this and other important security issues of mutual concern. Mexican Troops Aiding Smugglers, Report Says
Yes, by all means...let's consult with them first to "foster greater understanding".

If mexico wants to help pay for the fence I am willing to let them choose the color. Good neighbors should always consult before building a fence.
