TAMPA, Fla. - For months Republican leaders tried finding a candidate to take on Katherine Harris in the U.S. Senate primary, and now a recent poll shows Republican voters want an alternative to the woman who was once a party hero.
But even so she appears a safe bet to win the Republican nomination because GOP voters now have too many choices and know too little about them.
As Republican leaders failed to find a strong candidate to get in the race, three men stepped forward to challenge Harris for the right to face incumbent Democrat Bill Nelson. All put their names on the ballot on the last day to qualify, and the list made many ask "Who are these guys?"

A primary contest will up the media coverage, and that will be good.
Sounds like it.
If she is open borders she's toast.
I agree with you. So much for loyalty.

I like those pix - she is challenging the old guard and i hope she wins.
Sorry about that! I was trying to find one particular picture of her and Jeb when they're walking in the sand.
Is Katherine supporting the Senate immigration bill? Would she have voted like Bill Nelson and Mel Martinez?
Her immigration record is mixed. She caved in to the FL agriculture lobby by offering amnesty to illegals in FL. But she has supported some tough anti-illegal legislation too.
She can be persuaded and it's better than Nelson, who won't listen to you.
I'd love to find out that she is not. However, the upper echelons of the Rep.Party of Florida are addicted to cheap foriegn labor, and they don't care if you loose your job or can't afford health care because of it. Big farm, Big hospitality, and small business want cheap labor. And the price of gas? Hey, why don't you conserve, because I'm on my way to my private jet in my limousine?
Do you like sacharin smiles and empty platitudes?
I think she may actually be a conservative. That's a problem, for the RINO "moderates."
No you can't. The filing dates have passed, and the choices are set. She's the most electable of the candidates who bothered to file, so Republicans should stop sniping at her.
If the Senate bill on immigration is any indication, I am becoming more inclined to permanent gridlock in Washington. If the White House pushes this amnesty without addressing the House concerns, and this effort results in no legislation, then the consequences at the polls will be a loss of one or both Houses, and certainly two years of impeachment hearings. Is that what Karl Rove wants?
Another lockstep Republican?
She will NEVER win in Florida. Take that to the bank and move on.
Well on that I must agree. My in Texas, so I don't count, but I have thought highly of her ever since 2000. She took one hell of a beating and kept on ticking.
