If we needed any evidence of where the Criminal Aliens argument is going, here's some. Today I received an email petition from a cousin who is so liberal she makes Ted Kennedy look like a moderate. My cousin is a died-in-the-wool Boston Jewish Liberal who until now would have cut-off an arm before voting Republican and who has gleefully forwarded every anti-Bush joke that has come her way.
So you can imagine my surprise to recieve this: "A Petition to President Bush to Require citizenship to be eligible for social services in the United States. No amnesty and No free services for illegal immigrants." Her petition already had 283 signatures.
Anyone up for reelection to Congress this year who doesn't pay attention will be looking for a job next January.
Has your Massachusetts cousin tried contacting her senators and representives, Kennedy, Kerry, etc., for their support on this issue?

Burp.
My tagline says it all. I'm just glad that common sense is gaining ground in this debate.
In Arizona, the only way an illegal alien can get assistance from the State of Arizona is for them to commit identity theft. That used to be a crime when I was growing up. As an illegal, they can get emergency medical care. This "emergency care" includes having an anchor baby.
This goes across party lines so completely that I simply cannot come up with a good explanation why our leaders are making the absolute worst choices regarding this issue.
There simply has to be a hidden agenda. I think I know what it is.
I'm tired of all the debate about deporting illegal aliens.
We need to have the border patrol there Johnny-on-the-spot as soon as their saucers land, and if they don't have a passport or an entry visa we should ship them straight back to Tau Ceti or 40 Eridanii or wherever they come from.
Don't get me wrong. It's not because they're gray, or green, or mottled- it's because they're here illegally.
Legal aliens I have no beef against, so long as they pay their taxes.
It's pretty much the same thing I'm hearing from liberals around here as well. I just tell them to write to every senator and representative they can find.
Call, write, e-mail . . . maybe it's working.
I'm still in shock for sending a thank you fax to Debbie Stabenow through numbers USA for voting against S. 2611.
The"big business-cheap labor" numbers don't support it, only very small business that fly under the government revenue radat benafit are able to profit from evading taxs.
The buy a future voter doesn't help the pols now and I don't' beieve they are doing for the future of their party.
The Save Social Sercurity cheap fix has merit.
My new one is they are getting new smokers to replace the ones they ran off.
I'd also guess that the "clone of Levin" was given a pass after a voting headcount was taken. 'Rats aren't completely incompetent.
I still think illegal drugs enter into the equation somewhere.
I think it may have more to do with the new moves toward a common border extending to Canada's and Mexicio's borders instead of the ones between us. This is supposed to usher in new trade unions, such as the FTAA. (a precursor actually)

I had a similar experience with some "die hard" libs I know. It appears that there may be some optimism that the so called "party of tolerance" is slowly getting on the anti-ILLEGAL immigration wagon.
There are provisions in the Senate version to fund (along with Canada) improvements in Mexico's southern borders. There is a ton of stuff in the actual bill.
Yes, a border fence would hurt a lot of people's rice bowl, just simple drug dealers and junkies.
I'm at a loss to understand why we want to shore up Mexico's southern border while we complain about how much a fence would cost for our border.
We live in strange times.
BTW, this Senate bill is one of the worst bills it has ever approved IMO.
And who else will buy new cars and gas in the States?
