[Mark Steyn] Undocumented Status for All!
NRO ^ | 2006.05.26 | Mark Steyn

Posted on 05/26/2006 1:42:19 PM PDT by B-Chan

[Amother writer on NRO] is absolutely right - not the [post] on Sheena Easton, the one on immigration (though he's right on Sheena, too). But how about some of you natives piling on? I assumed NR's transplanted British Empire wallahs were steamed about this because we were foolish enough to check the wrong box and come here as legal immigrants - which, believe me, is a mistake I wouldn't make again. But this bill moves not just legal immigrants but U.S. citizens to the back of the bus.

The undocumented guys only have to pay taxes for any three out of the last five years? How come Americans can't get a deal like that? Meanwhile, any attempt to enforce the border requires "consultation" with Mexico. Vicente Fox has just got his own permanent Security Council veto in the Department of Homeland Security.

I think it's very hard for conservatives to support a Congress that would pass such a bill. Aside from the entitlement explosion and the national security issues, this bill is a cynical corruption of the integrity of US sovereignty and citizenship.

My wife and the kids had their Green Cards stolen the other day. Cost of replacement of legal permanent resident cards: $1,040. Fine for 20 years of law-breaking within the United States: $2,000, less Social Security and EITC entitlements. Hmm.

I told the missus to hold off filling in the form for the replacement card. Having been rendered inadvertently undocumented, she may at last be in the winning category.

Legal United States citizens have been royally screwed. Our country is rapidly going to hell in a hand basket.

We've been waaaaaayyy more than had friend B-Chan.

We need to work very hard to kill this idiot Senate bill in the House. Then we need to work very hard to see that each and every Senator who voted for this monstrous insult to law abiding legal US residents is defeated in the next election regardless of their party affiliation.

If he's not already on it, add Steyn to the list of unappeasable, xenophobic, "one-issue-wonder" whack jobs.

It's turning out to be a pretty big list ... given that the only people that care about illegal immigration are a few nutballs on FR.

Or so I hear.

:-)

The US Senate seem hell-bent to grease the skids to allow people who are here illegally and who don't file income tax forms to not only stay here (with the Blue Card program), but they make it easy to perform a "chain immigration", meaning that they can bring their family members, even other adult relatives along too!

On the flip side of this, if you are a US citizen and have managed to accumulate (after taxes) a few million dollars and decide you want to live elsewhere, just see what happens when you try to move out of the US!

You must get permission from the IRS to do so. Even if you don't earn a penny of US income, nor have a US employer, nor ever touch a US dollar again, you must continue to file US income tax forms. If you say enough and want to give up your US citizenship, Congress still claims the power to force you to report and pay taxes for another ten years.

What is wrong with this picture? Slide the illegals in, tax US Citizens to give them free healthcare and guarantee their Social Security, keep US-born Citizens as tax slaves. Land of the free? Don't bet on it. Land of the used-to-be-free.

That's right - co-presidents, exactly! I see more of Fox and his henchmen on the news right now than I do our traitorous bas#ard politicians - other than when they are shaking hands with the 3rd world and giving YET more of our country away.

40% of all workers in L.A. County (L.A. County has 10 million people) are
working for cash and not paying taxes.
<<

I heard a tax accountant on the radio say that in South Carolina, over 400,000 people are employed using the SSN of 999-99-9999.

I wonder how small the pool of over-subscribed SSNs is in LA County.

The IRS can see all these SSNs when it receives the employer deposit payroll transmitals. Why has the Congress, the President and the MSM been silent about using the IRS to find employers who have obviously bogus employees.

Steyn is white and law-abiding. Therefore, his wife and children will probably get the death-penalty.

America is not a place, it is a people, with a culture, a tradition and a set of laws. We could remake America easily, if you took the good people of this country and moved them to Brazil, Central Asia or Southern Africa. Unfortunately, all those places are taken. Where are we going to go if they give America to the third world and the socialists?

It has come to my attention that ALL members of the JUDICIARY COMMITTEE will participate in the conference on the immigation bill..

Our battle is not with the Senators who voted on the "Senate Version" on the bill....the two bill are "oceans" apart.. with the house version being a MUCH BETTER BILL !! our battle is with the Senators who will go to conference with house.. which I just found out will be ALL MEMBERS of the Judiciary Committee and then some additional Senators yet to be named by Reid and Frist !!!...

WE NEED TO LET THESE FOLKS KNOW that we SUPPORT THE HOUSE VERSION !! NOT THE SENATE VERSION !!! now get er done !!

---> for now we can focus our efforts on the JUDICIARY COMMITTEE MEMEBERS !!!

Arlen Specter Orrin G. Hatch Patrick J. Leahy Charles E. Grassley Edward M. Kennedy Jon Kyl Joseph R. Biden, Jr. Mike DeWine Hrbert Kohl Jeff Sessions Dianne Feinstein Lindsey Graham Russell D. Feingold John Cornyn Charles E. Schumer Sam Brownback Richard J. Durbin Tom Coburn

I have written an OPEN LETTER to the conferees and I encouge EVERYONE who cares about this to do the same.... feel free to copy/edit/distribute my letter..

MY OPEN LETTER TO CONFEREES
