Nice story, but who goes to visit a friend at a hospital at 3:30 in the morning?

Struck me as really odd too, and then telling the kid, "do what you have to do".

Something wierd about a father saying that to his son in what could have very well been their last moments on earth. I think most guys would have been screaming, "Shoot the &%$#@*' b@$t@rd!"

I guess Holly-weird is Holly-weird, whether it is Florida or California. I haven't been to FL in awhile, I guess I forgot about the 24 hr visiting policy in the area hospitals...

Some hospitals allow visitors to stay in the room of a patient who is critically ill, or one who is in for chemo. It sounds weird at first, but there are occasions when a visitor would be in a patient's room at that hour.

I would imagine, anyone who lives five or six hours from the hospital and wants to be home in time for dinner.

The article doesn't specify what hospital or location so that was what first came to mind for me.

Emergency room visit? Someone in critical ICU? or hospice? Lots of possibilities beyond normal visiting hours.
