Statism is so far along, I think there's no stopping it. Pretty soon, we won't even be able to slow it down.
My sister-in-law has a spayed cat who is just as obnoxious. She still yowls the same way, yet she has been spayed.
Don't know what to tell you about that.

Males are even worse when unfixed - they'll leave a not-so-wonderful odor in various corners of your house to "mark their territory".
In my opinion this is good law. To allow cats and dogs to breed and then their offspring running loose, breeding more unwanted cats and dogs makes no sense at all.
We've adopted two dogs from a local animal shelter. Great pets. My question is why were they running loose? Makes no sense at all. They are now spayed, stay in a fenced yard and I never let them run loose.
There are plenty of animals to adopt; more than there are people will adopt them. Perfectly healthy cats and dogs are euthanized for no other reason than irresponsible owners.
Good point. I bet most people who own intact cats let them roam.

All my cats go outside as much as they please. They have a cat door. This doesn't make sense in all locations, but at my suburban home it does. The oldest is 20 -- I found him 18 years ago, neutered and declawed, but obviously either abandoned or had fled an abusive home. I wouldn't dream of keeping him imprisoned indoors. His greatest pleasure in life is go for a stroll in the garden, drink out of the little mini-pond, and curl up to rest next to the sound of the water from the pond's fountain. Lots of birds visit the pond to drink too, and kitty enjoys that but leaves them alone. If I lived in a location where it was unreasonably dangerous outside (either close to a highway or out in the boonies with lots of foxes), I'd build an enclosed garden for the kitties, but where I live now, it just isn't necessary.
I can see the PSAs now...
:)
You are lucky and so are your precious cats.
I know a reliable way to stop females from having sex...
Marry them.
Nope,
its the other way around....
If yer doin' it right, she won't leave ya alone,
now will she ;)
"But some animal rights advocates worry the bill could prompt cat owners to abandon their pets rather than risk a fine or pay several hundred dollars for the birth control procedures."
These nanny-state jerks are never happy, are they? I guess it makes their pathetic little lives better to just wag their fingers at us.
For the record: 1) I am all for spay/neuter and practice it (with the cats) relentlessly, but 2) I don't want the state telling me what to do on this stuff.
Coercion rarely works, anyway. Most of us do the right thing for having been persuaded. The rest will do what they will do regardless of the laws.
Yep, this is a free country alright!
That was uncalled for.
Where will new kitties come from if they’re all spayed and neutered?
