GOP GETS ALIEN-ATED FROM PREZ (House Repubs dead-set against--legalization deemed political suicide)

It's a good bet now that there won't be any law to legalize illegal aliens - at least before next fall's election. As many Republicans see it.....(the Senate) Democratic amnesty bill....would amount to political suicide..... House Republicans are dead-set against legalization, convinced that backing Bush's plan would so infuriate conservatives that they'd sit out the election and let Democrats win control of Congress.
The Senate can't pass the bill alone, so as long as the House holds firm, any compromise bill won't include legalization......
Karl Rove got an earful when he tried to persuade House Republicans yesterday - 19 of the 20 who spoke out said no way to legalization......"It was a very cool reception. No matter what the president and the Senate call it, people see it as amnesty," said House Homeland Security chairman Peter King (R-L.I.).....The White House claims voters want to get "something" done. House Republicans like King say their voters, by a 99-1 margin, would rather see nothing than allow an amnesty.
......House Republicans will be led by a very tough negotiator to try to reach a compromise deal - House Judiciary chairman James Sensenbrenner (R-Wis.) A tenacious, even truculent negotiator - he was a House impeachment manager against Bill Clinton..........

Great reminder!!
Dorgan had a sign :
Outsourcing jobs
Insourcing lower wages.
The plight of the middle class should be put on the shoulders of the Democratic Party. Increases in wages and offerings of benefits were to entice a limited workforce. Now employers can, because of a massive workforce, eliminate those benefits. Thus the "Marxicans" want to have government to become the supplier, making more people dependent, and the governmental powers strengthened by entitlements.

Yes, and one of those limits was to establish the senate to represent the rights of the various states, not the rights of various interest groups. Changing the senate to direct election rather than appointment by the legislature opened a can of worms and we're dealing with those worms today.
BTW, with legislatures appointing the senators, there wouldn't be a problem with term limits.

THANK GOD!
Someone gets it - not just politically speaking but also UNDERSTANDS that ILLEGAL ACTS are just that - ILLEGAL. There is NO rational reason in the world why the U.S. should roll out the red carpet for ILLEGALS when tons of people wanting to go through the LEGAL PROCESS are waiting in line.

If we cut off immigration there will probably be some kind of serious social unrest, but it will just be rioting as there is no one and no party to lead to better things.Better in Mexico than here.

I personally think the President is trying to straddle the fence on this.
I think he's doing this from his heart and that he thinks it's the right move.
Unfortunately for him the vast majority of American Citizens do not agree with him.

The twisted webs wind in, thru and around it all, including the "Mexican poor" problem. Communists gain their foothold by exploiting the poor. History 101. (Would you rather deal with the problem of a Communist Mexico? Sometimes I wonder if, in the mix of the "send em all home, build a wall" folk, there aren't 'plants' to keep the focus on the little picture, so the Big picture machinations can continue gaining ground unnoticed. It is the way they work. How many are change agents, how many are dupes?
Are you sure there aren't some Reds still under your bed?

We have a BIG surprise for the RINOs in this next election. They need to be taught a lesson. Never darken the conservative doorstep again.

Reminds of Howard Roark in Fountainhead - in his defense speech - about the man who first invented fire - "He was probably burned at the stake for it - but thereafter, man had fire"
That's even dumber. If the cavemen were so afraid of the communist influence of fire as to burn its inventor, then who lit the fire to burn him at the stake?

Try to get the same ftreatment rom Mexico, and you'd end up at
las Islas Marías prison colony, with a long stripped prison suit.
Short stripes are short termers, while long stripes are long termers!

This whole thing may be the biggest misdirection-coup I've seen in decades. The whole issue, that NO ONE has touched or attempted to solve before - is all Bush's doing/fault - Bush, the only man to take it on.Technically, the 'whole thing' started in 86, cause there were NO illegals immediately after Simpson Mazolli passed. 60% of the 12-20 million currently in country arrived between 86 and 2000, and 40% - 5 to 8 million - have arrived since W took office, since his SOU address when he laid out his guest worker agenda.
So, while he's not responsible he certainly has made the problem worse, IMO.
However, he's not beyond redemption - if he jumps on board the Sensenbrenner Bill bandwagon I'm willing to let bygones be bygones.
