Carter praises Bush's immigration stance

ATLANTA - Former president Carter, a Democrat and frequent critic of President Bush, sees eye-to-eye with him on immigration.

Carter on Wednesday called the Republican president's commitment to immigration reform "quite admirable," saying he agrees with Bush's support of a system that would eventually grant citizenship to some illegals.

The Senate is set to vote as early as Thursday on a bill that calls for tougher border security as well as an eventual chance at citizenship for millions of men and women in the country illegally.

The law should secure the nation's borders while "at the same time treating those who are here with respect and giving them some hope for the future," Carter said.

The Senate plan, which closely mirrors Bush's own proposal, faces an uncertain fate in the House, where representatives have passed legislation that would expose all illegal immigrants to felony charges.

Carter spoke at the close of a three-day forum of international human rights workers at The Carter Center in Atlanta. Human rights activists from 22 countries attended the forum.

"Yes you are Sheeple. Carter and the libs have hit the mother lode. Ya'll are pathetic."

Hmmm! Hard to have a debate on issues when all I see is name calling.

And for your information, I love GWB maybe not as much as Ronald Reagan but I am honest enough to admit both were/are dead wrong on this issue.

If 10 people enter your house, uninvited, in the dead of night will you:

1) Follow GWB, RR, peanut brain, the Senate and give them food, medical care, free education, SS (paid using a stolen number), allow them to stay forever and have children and then make those children part of your family? OR

#2) Call the cops and have them arrested?

MOST legal citizens of all political beliefs are against this amnesty of crimmigrants and somehow someway we have to stop the federal government on this issue. It has to be the line in the sand between the citizens and the ruling elite. If we let them get away with this there is no stopping them.

Yeah, you'll throw anything at your opponents here ... as long as it keeps you from asking that just maybe the fact that Bush is on the same side as Ted the Swimmer, Hillary and now Jimmah ... might indicate that Bush is on the wrong side of this issue.

There's a small percentage of the people are wholly invested in this issue on the notion of "all or nothing".

Wrong. At this point, we would favor no bill over a bad bill.

"Nuff said. If Carter agrees with President, then the President is wrong."

That sums the whole issue up. When Carter is on your side, you'd best be looking to see which ideology your snuggling up to. This thread is worth bookmarking for future use. - OB1

When, oh when, will the bots finally wake up and realize that the White House is out to lunch on this issue?

When they get updated or re-programmed.

"Enforcement is going to be a bit*h, and you need to address how you're going to increase enforcement capability while respecting the rights of citizens, the Constitution, and the statutory laws of the land, Federal and State. "

Well you went point by point on Lurkers 5 steps each time telling us that it could not be enforced or would be hard to enforce (no logic to back your opinion by the way). If we take your "can't do it" attitude and apply it you GWBs plan or anyones else for that matter then NOTHING WILL WORK AND WE MIGHT AS WELL ACCEPT THE FACT THAT WE ARE BEING INVAIDED, OUR GOVERNMENT IS IN COLLUSION WITH THE INVAIDORS AND THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO.

Well maybe your right. After years of preferential immigration laws for 3rd world types maybe the USA can no longer enforce its laws and Constitution. Now that we have demeaned every person of European heritage especially the males, and have built up a core of 3rd world losers in the dumbocrap party maybe just maybe you are right and we should just STFU.

Thanks for your thoughts on this. I agree with them and appreciate your insight. Keep up the good work.

"How many law enforcement officers will be needed to find, capture, detain, and deport 10-20 million illegal aliens?"

If local LEOs got involved and simply policed their districts, it would only take enough to do the job locally. Different areas take differing amounts. It's not rocket science.

"How much will this cost? "

Again depends on the local area.

Here's one for you. What's the cost of unchecked Illegal immigration in Dollars, Diseases, Lives lost due to criminal activity?

"What will happen when their job is finished? "

What happens when any job is finished? Do you really thing this particular job is going to go away?

I'm trying to get you to think like an American who is concerned for the safey and security of his country against a litany of threats that we haven't even begun to see yet. Diseases that were once considered wiped out in this country are starting to make a comeback. Due precisely to these diseases being brought across the border in record numbers.
Our very security is at stake by not closing off by any means necessary, that southern border.

President Bush maybe the president, but he's not God and his word is NOT law. He answers to the American People. WE, meaning you and I, are the Government. Not some politician in Washington.

Time will tell whether our borders are sealed or not. But one thing is 100% for sure.

If this Illegal Invasion isn't stopped soon. The America we once knew, be it for good or bad, will forever disappear into the wastebin of history.

Whatever you want to believe, dude. I can see reality isn't your strong suite.

LOL Just keep letting Carter and Kennedy lead you around by the nose.

Once again, last I checked, they were on YOUR side. Not ours.

It is getting harder and harder to understand the likes of you. First you pretend that amnesty is not amnesty. And now you pretend that because Carter and Kennedy are on the same side as President Bush, they are leading US around?

Sorry, but apparently your language involves not questioning your political leaders. Which makes it truly bizzare that you would liken my side to sheep.
