WASHINGTON - In the first chapter of what is likely to be a blistering campaign, U.S. Rep. John Murtha's Republican challenger, Diana L. Irey, traveled to Washington yesterday to decry Mr. Murtha as one-time patriot who has "lost his way" after his recent comments about a November incident involving U.S. Marines and civilian killings in the city of Haditha, Iraq.

Here's another blogger that covers all the articles.

There is no doubt that civilians died in U.S. bombing raids during World War II. But Congressman Murtha slanders the thousands of aircrew members who gave their lives in an effort to destroy enemy targets and minimize civilian casualties.
Whoops!
Yes. Lee H. Oswald, Clayton Lonetree, and now Jack Murtha fit into that category.
That was the rumor I heard about. Glad to hear it was legit. :-)
If you really have that much trouble following even the basics, then perhaps you should just withhold comment.
Should have thought of that before you levelled charges of Ms. Irey lacking intelligence, Counselor!
You just outted yourself, Counselor.
Nice catch. Ol' Matlock stepped on his wee-wee, didn't he? :-D
Thanks for the ping freema. Murtha is the lowest of the low for slandering out Airmen.
Thought you two might want to know that Rose (of Quinn & Rose) just mentioned you both by FReeper name this morning when talking about her experience at the Irey Press conference on Wednesday, and gave a plug for the Walter Reed FReeps.
Glad to hear of the plug for the Walter Reed folks. They definitely deserve it!
Which makes it imperative that anyone angry at Murtha step up and help Diana Irey in whatever way they can.
Hope she said NICE things about us!
God bless her for the Walter Reed plug.
Yes! She has blonde hair, a big smile and was wearing black. She was working on the logistics of this program.
Good grief. These Irey/Murtha threads are like the Harris/Nelson threads. Both Irey and Harris have the same rabid backers, but refuse to acknowledge reality and anyone that questions them is a troll or lefty or dem plant or whatever.
This is all I was trying to say: Irey is a one-trick pony. She is running against Murtha's comments on Iraq. It makes for wonderful soundbites and gets her some national attention, as Murtha has become a nationally known polarizing figure due to his comments, but at the end of the day, does it put bacon on the table? No.
Irey was on Honesburger yesterday and he asked her if she was aware of any polling numbers. She said that they had run a poll, but would not reveal the numbers. All she said was that it was evident that Murtha had a lot of support and then she spun it, of course.
As I posted earlier, even the GOP leaders in this district gush over Murtha. They are willing to give him a pass on the crazy talk because (a) their voters are split on Iraq (like the rest of the country) and (b) Murtha is very good at bringing home the bacon.
If Irey wants to gain ground, she needs to move off of the Iraq issue and move onto other issues, such as economic issues.
Okay, now I know who she was. We never actually introduced ourselves. Thanks
Call me rabid, that's fine. As has been detailed on countless threads, we're all aware of Ms. Irey's status as an underdog. All you can offer is that she's a one-trick pony and that we're rabid. Name calling. Profound analysis, Counselor! I may be rabid, but I am much better informed on this race than you are, Mr. Matlock.

Why don't you explain how that is.
And the fact that Irey is a one-trick pony is about as detailed an analysis as anyone needs. Let me know when the voters....or even the GOP in the district...decide to jump on that issue with ther.
