...Diana Irey and a busload of supporters headed to D.C. to demand Murtha apologize to Marines for recently accusing some of them of being cold-blooded killers.
...
"Mr. Murtha's comments, I believe, were irresponsible and they put our men and women serving overseas in greater danger," Irey said.
Murtha recently said several Marines killed at least 15 Iraqi civilians in cold blood last November and said action should be taken.
While the U.S. military doesn't dispute the congressman's claim, Irey said Murtha is in the wrong.
"Being a former Marine himself, he should know they have a process in place to take care of situation that may have happened that should not have happened," Irey said.
"By coming out and calling them 'cold-blooded killers,' he's already tainted the minds and possible jury of those who will be hearing these allegations."
Irey's visit to Washington, D.C., comes on the heels of Murtha receiving the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award for speaking out against the war.
Irey said she believes many eye the Kennedy family with suspicions and said she's never heard anything positive about the award.
Stay with Channel 6 News Wednesday evening as we cover this story from Washington, D.C. We will bring you more details on Irey's comments, as well as Murtha's response.

Thanks to all you guys, America truly needs more activism FOR our troops instead of more agitating against them.
God bless.
I have given to the Irey campaign and I know she can reach the hearts of her constituents by simply standing up for the good guys and her country.

It is a mistake to think the Democrats will do our job for us, even inadvertently, let alone deliberately.
Of course Republicans shouldn't comment on "every" treasonous utterance by "every" Democrat. That misses the point. Murtha isn't just "any" Democrat. He is a senior congressman who doesn't fit the Democratic stereotype. He looks and sounds like a regular-guy Middle American. And he's talking like Michael Moore and has gotten a lot of publicity. We can't let this slip by, shrugging it off with an attitude like, "Let George do it."
We're a team. Saying that it's someone else's job is the way of losers.

You shouldn't expect your VA reps to comment on every treasonous utterance by every moonbat dem.I expect my VA representatives to publicly defend smears of the very military they sent into combat. This isn't simply a Pennsylvania race, not by a long shot. Murtha made sure of that months ago.

I checked out her website. She's cute, too.
This is often said of women candidates and politicians. But she really is. This can only help.

After a member of Murtha's staff hung up on me, a friend suggested I fax a copy of my check to the, "Diana Irey for Congress" campaign to Murtha's office. I'm not sure our fax machine is working, but I think it would be choice if Murtha knew how many people were opposed to his deceitfulness.

Your screen name gave me a funny visual. Ms. Irey was at the podium, with maybe 10 of us frumpy male veterans on the platform behind her.
She was certainly a rose among thorns. :-)

I checked out her website. She's cute, too. Yes (her hair is darker than in the photos), and friendly and articulate. She's also very petite. So the toe-to-toe title of the article gives me a chuckle, as Murtha ain't exactly svelte!

I'm a distant observer (Florida) and I really admire the progress you are making with her campaign.
I'm pretty sure the libs thought Murtha was in a "safe" district so they could let him mouth off and be an A$$ and nothing would happen.
If I were Murtha right now, I'd be feeling like Wile E. Coyote when he finds out he has walked off the cliff but, somehow, hasn't fallen yet.
*Occasionally he even has time to hold up a little "oops" sign.

I hope if she does appear that she gives NO quarter to the enemy, Murtha. None, no weasel words about his service, his "right" to speak out ect.
She must repeatedly seek to let our troops with boots on the ground know that we love them, that we are proud of them, that we know what difficulties they face, and we know their accomplishments.
The MSM cannot frame the debate, Murtha must be smashed as the cold-hearted bastard he is.
To: California Patriot
OK, I'm going to give you a quick course in the manipulation of people. Which do you think will get Diana Irey more votes?
- "Congressman Murtha, how dare you, you oxygen thief, even think of smearing our great men and women in the US armed forces? No wonder the Marine corps didn't make you a general after over 35 years, you mushy headed nitwit!"
- "Congressman Murtha, I am sad and disappointed that you have chosen to criticize our armed forces at this time. With your distinguished record of service, you should know full well that the fog of war distorts the circumstances of the dangerous job our courageous fighting forces are doing."
The second sounds Daschle-esque but it works on the lazy voter. I've seen it too many times. Republican congressmen are better off saying nothing. Otherwise, people will sympathize with the poor old man.
Never mind that if he can't handle a little verbal abuse he shouldn't be in Congress, this is the way the elderly, socially-conservative, third-generation-union voters in his district will see it.

I'm a distant observer (Florida) and I really admire the progress you are making with her campaign.:-) Thanks, but I'm just a distant observer as well, in northern Virginia. However, her campaign was kind enough to road trip into my neck of the woods, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity. I am impressed with Ms. Irey, but admittedly don't know that much about her. However, I am irate with Murtha's embarassing conduct and betrayal of the very Marine flag he often drapes over his shoulders (figuratively speaking). So I am channeling my anger at that EX-Marine into support for his worthy and feisty opponent.

They know!!
Earlier when the vote was held on the "Murtha Bill" I tried to fax him a scathing note. I had my fax on autodial for 5 days before it finally got through.
Sending him a fax was like dialing votes in to American Idol....... busy busy busy.
I am enthused by this thread and sincerely hope we can generate a swell of FReeper national support for the lady.
Hats off to Coop. A leader was needed and he arose!!

Trust me when I tell you this: If Republican Congressman say nothing about him, don't respond, etc., we are much more likely to get rid of Murtha. He'll appear to be the screaming, nutty, senile moonbat that he is. Ya gotta be Machiavellian about this.

Coyote when he finds out he has walked off the cliff but, somehow, hasn't fallen yet. Cute analogy. :-) However, Murtha still has a daunting lead in money raised and cash on hand. Diana Irey doesn't need to catch him, but she does need more money. If she scores an interview or two on Rush, Hannity, Brit Hume, whatever, the gap could IMHO close substantially.
And the funds they've raised over the past week, thanks to Murtha's verbal vomit and places like Free Republic, have been significant.

That district voted 49% for Bush in 2004. I don't think they'll be taking too kindly to his public proclamations of guilt and military failures.
