- I believe I'm right in saying that her thesis was on Chomsky and that she worked in Alinsky's office as a volunteer while a college student or shortly after graduation.

A criminologist by training, Alinsky in the 1930s organized the Back of the Yards neighborhood in Chicago (made famous by Upton Sinclair's The Jungle).
