Israeli advice on the Mexico fence: be ruthless
Haaretz.com ^ | 23/05/2006 | n/a

Posted on 05/23/2006 7:25:12 PM PDT by 1ofmanyfree

(excerpted...) Tactics: Don't just rely on sophisticated machinery and equipment. You need people on the ground using the equipment to pursue the invaders. They need to react fast, they need intelligence, and they need to be tireless. It will only take a couple of months before the flow of immigrants will become much weaker.

Intelligence: Recruit people on the Mexican side to be your eyes and ears and to tell you what the smugglers are up to. Make sure you can communicate fast, and react even faster. Good intelligence can be the key factor for success.

Routine: The smugglers will be inventive and will look for ways around you. If you stick to some regulated routine, you'll end up wasting your time and your money. Surprise them where they don't expect you, make them understand that no place is safe, no route out of reach. "Don't police them, fight them."

Ruthlessness: Is it really important for the Americans? If it is, they should be prepared to show it. "Make the other side understand that this is no game - that life can be in danger," says the expert. "I know this is the toughest advice of all, but short of doing it the Americans will end up pretending to stop illegal immigrants rather than really doing it.

At the end of the day, it is very simple: America is more powerful than the smugglers - meaning, it can deter them from doing what they do." But there's one condition necessary to keep this preponderance of power working:

"It should be as important for America to stop the illegal new comers as it is for them to come."

Yes, I agree both parties are to blame and equally wrong all be it for differing reasons.

The Dems seem to only want the new voters and new Union "campaign donations". The unions want the new membership dues. The Repubs seem to only want the economy, if not boom, at least not collapse into another recession/depression, both looking the other way at illegal employers, no matter the cost to us or our children.

Forget that college summer job working construction, it's been filled by all the illegals. They are taking our youths entry level and temp. jobs and nobody mentions that. They are starting companies taking work from our legitimate small mom and pop businesses. Wake up America! Build the danged wall now. Demand no less. Look what open a defacto open border with Mexico and repeated "amnesty" has done so far.

Israelis have developed incredible data systems. The Lord and Mossad know how they do it, but they can filter through tons of data and somehow gauge the accuracy of intelligence and even predict the likelihood of a terrorists' route and intended target. They have developed this capability on the back of some heavy tragedy, but even in the cases when the terrorist gets through they are able to recreate virtually every step of the operation and use it for data purposes. That, plus all the people they now catch and interrogate. They got it to the point that they capture dozens before they detonate for every one who actually makes it through.

The barrier helps, but human intel and the ability to analyze it is also a big help. I read a bit about it, can't remember exactly where, but when they say "tireless" they mean it - when they get a credible threat alert they work incredibly hard and communicate with everyone from police to military to spies to prevent, as the article called it, from the computer screens to "turn red" - meaning, a successful attack.

Then we can blame the Israelies for been too insensitive, when the Mexicans start complaining!

We could have the ADF primed to call them anti-Semitic if they complained. Problem solved.

Maybe we should hire some Israelis as Border Patrol Men to teach our Pussyfied BP how to do the job!

I've spent several hundred hours on the border, in the last year, the Border Patrol agents on the ground don't need anyone to teach them how to do their job, what they need is for their politically correct leaders to get out of the way, and let them do their jobs.

true, but nobody here is talking about going after the employers who hire them....

remember--nobody comes if there aint no work.

my solution: 5k fine for each illegal hired. then see how many still get hired.

let's be fair about this. lots of americans make money from illegal labor.

All you have to do is to look at the Attorney General, and the head of ICE, to realize why "ruthlessness" (as desperately as it may be needed) will not be an option.

IIRC, the fine under the existing law is twice that.

Bush refuses to enforce it, in violation of his oath of office.

When the heck are we going to take our goverment back?? These morons are public servants. They are supposed to represent their constituents, not themselves. It makes me laugh, right now we are having a gas crisis. It is costing my husband and I about 250 give or take a week to drive. The goverment tells me to conserve and to get a smaller vehicle, but on the flip side, lets add 20 million more divers. The cost of healthcare is through the roof, we need insurance, lets add 20 million people to medicaid. Schools are overcrowded, not enough teachers, we need more money, lets add millions of new students, who don't speak the language and then hire thousands of new teachers to teach them english and don't forget about the free breakfast and lunch. Let's see, all these wonderful immigrants will be picking our lettuce and building our houses, they'll pay taxes, yeah sure. When April 15th comes, they'll do their taxes and guess what, their tax refund will be an Earned Income Tax Credit, which means they don't pay any freaking taxes, yet they qualify for all the freebies. Yep, that sounds like a plan to me. The time is right for new blood, get rid of these tired ole useless idiots. Whoever is not up for reelection get petitions going to have them removed for failure to uphold their oath of office. It is time to get nasty. Build the damn wall, and start enforcing the damn laws already on the books. They will leave. Why can't they understand?????? My gosh our goverment is freaking useless.

Sounds good but there is a major problem with that.

The problem is that it would generate revenue through fines for the government.  The more money the government gets, the more it spends.  If the program worked and the revenue stream evaporated, the government (who never spends less, only more) would eventually tax you for the money the fines used to bring in.  For example, federal and state taxes on cigarettes...they stopped a large majority of smokers, now they have to tax the whole of America to replace that revenue.

There are current penalties and punishments already on the books for people who violate IRS, ICE and other rules; simply enforce them.

Never, never, never generate a new revenue stream for the government.  It will never end and will only expand as out of control spending consumes it.
