President Bush met and held a press conference (text) with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert at the White House.
UK Prime Minister Tony Blair will meet with the president on Thursday; one topic they will discuss is Blair's recent trip to Iraq. PM Blair will depart on Friday.
Welcome to Sanity Island!
Well, they say good things come in threes. These are great pictures. Laura looks great too. She has excellent taste in clothes. I have a green suit similar to hers (though probably much, much cheaper). I wore it the first time I went to court.
And yes, our president looks absolutely regal.
Someone posted to me a few months ago that if we go back far enough, we're all related! So true, lol.
I don't have Mayflower ancestors (as far as I know). My grandfather's immigrant ancestor was sent to Jamestown colony as an adolescent in 1619, probably the result of a sweep of orphans from the streets of London. He settled in Maryland but my grandfather's g-grandfather made his way back to northern Virginia. My grandmother's family came to Virginia to escape Cromwell circa 1660.
I love genealogy!
Sounds exactly like "Yodels" made by Drakes Cakes.
Very interesting. I am going to do a liver detox and it requires eating a gob of apples each day for six days or something like that. I can't put up with the headaches for that long (they really are excruciating even eating one apple), so I decided to eat one apple a day but cut it into slices and nibble on it all day, keep doing that for a while, then do the detox. Thanks for your post. It confirms the need for me to go ahead with the liver detox. Not that I drink much alcohol LOL! I think it's because I have had to take a lot of medications over the years. But most folks could use a detox just because of all the junk we have in our food.
Well, then, I am making a mental note to keep him out of my posts to you. Sorry he creeped you out.
Wow, that's as good as any pro photo I've seen. Thanks for the write up. Sounds wonderful.
I haven't seen it but I don't go near the choco isles very often.
Anyone - do we have Galaxy Chocolate Bars in the US?
Notice the Snowman behind Bolton?
YIKES!
It is a very smooth creamy chocolate even more so than Cadbury's
Well spotted Star I had missed that
he had a very interesting life, before, during and after the Mayflower voyage.
Few people realize that the Plymouth Pilgrims - also had Maine connections. (Maine was part of Massachusetts then).
Due to some scurrilous financial shenanigans with the English "Merchant Adventurers" who financed the voyages - along with a couple of sticky fingered Pilgrims - and interest rates that would make Sears proud - they debt, tho paid over and over, could not be proven. So a group of 8 of the leaders of the colony undertook to, through enterprise, pay of the debt for the whole colony. These 8, the "undertakers", got grants of land in Maine for building and operating trading posts with the Indians.
One such post was put up on the banks of the Kennebec where Maine's capitol city, Augusta, now is.
The trading post building, 20' x 60' consisted of 3 rooms: the family room on one end with a daub and wattle fireplace, the room on the far end was the store house and the middle room was the trading room. (This was Maine's first "pre-fab" building - they built it in Plymouth, brought it up the coast and the river to the post and reassembled it!)
It fell to Howland to manage the post and so he had to live there - with his wife and 3 little girls - in the winter, as that is when the furs were thick. (There is a stone on the site, with his name. I cannot imagine wintering over, with small children, in an uninsulated building with only a fireplace - pretty to look at, but not a lot of heat.)
Yep .. those are Yodels

I had to stop buying them for the kids snacks in their lunchs
Everyone here was eating to many of them *L*
me too
So many facets to it.
Not just names and places, but what they thought, did, dreamed of - we are the product of our ancestors and we inherit not only physical characteristics but character and talent characteristics...I've learned that time and time again over the decades of doing our family genealogy
We owe them a lot -
Got to get to bed now. (btw, those chocolate rolls are called Ho-Ho's here.........if no one let you know that yet. :)
Good night, all!
Do you have any recent photos of Plymouth Plantation I visited in 1997 it would be interesting to know if there are many additions to museum since.
Ours tend to have more sponge and less cream stuff judging from the photo.
We also have ordinary sponge ones (not chocolate sponge) with jam in them no cream or chocolate covering
