"No chance it can be convinced to go to war against Russia and China."

Wars are, by all accounts, horribly expensive. Do you really think that the Russian and Chinese could afford a war with us?

They can't. And they won't dare.

What's left of Israel wouldn't nuke em back, either.

Why?

Particularly when that gun has a "nuke" symbol on it.

I think you're wrong on this. This was said now for a reason.

Expect real trouble if ships begin unsheduled deployments or get extended on current ones, or if bomber wings are moved nearby, or if troops are extended who are currently deployed or those returning are suddenly put on short notice...etc etc etc.

Oh - and many pizzas delivered to DC offices of the pliticians.

fundamentalists that the neocons are afraid of.

Those who are considered and consider themselves Neocons are not afraid of Christian Fundamentalists. Actually, they're pretty good friends.

"Not true at all! I may not agree w/ the President on the Border (Amnesty) issue w/ this he is SPOT ON!!!"

But, but I thought that those of us who disagree with the President on the border issue were "one issue people" and trolls!

You mean I can think he's wrong on one thing and right on another? What a relief! I feel ever so much better! /sarc

America will form strongly behind him. All political bickering will stop for a time just as it did 9/11 timeframe. And you have no idea how much the vast majority of the military respect and even love this man.

WE are the ones that will be called to do his bidding as soon as Isreal is schwacked. The MSM will begin immediately to try and destroy any public support for him, but we in the military will...not...falter. And I also think you're wrong about the so called public opinion--it would skyrocket toward approval rapidly.
Just my 2 cents.

The prez doent have to ask congress to launch nukes. If this were the case russia or china could launch nukes and we would be a smoking crater before we had a response from congress. The Prez can order a nuclear strike.

I'd like to think you're right, but I think any action much stronger than posturing won't have enough support of the American people, at this point.

100% support, no problem with it.

My guess Israelis may remember a similar Eisenhower promise. By historical accident, the obligation of enforcement fell to LBJ. I can't imagine why any nation would depend on promises for their survival. Including American promises to Israel. Not worth the bandwith they're preserved on.

Then we can agree to disagree. I firmly believe as soon as Israel were attacked, America would be awakened again as it was after 9/11.

Support, even demands for retaliation would soon follow.

Not long after 9/11, almost 1/2 Americans didn't even want to defend themselves, thinking they could talk themselves out of the looming conflicts with radiscal Islam.

All liberals, many independents, and some conservatives won't give a rat's @ss about avenging Israel.

We will just have to agree to disagree, and I for one hope we don't find out what it really would be like.

I think Iran is just bluffing anyhow, to try to undermine our economy.

I mean, are there any more inflammatory words that Iran could say?

I bet ninty nine percent of those reading this don't have a clue to what you're referring.

They don't know that the 1967 War may never have occurred if the US had kept a simple promise to Israel. A promise that got Israel to give Egypt back the Sinai in 1956. A promise that the US would not allow Israeli shipping to be blockaded agasin by Egypt.

All Johnson had to do was sail one American ship to the Israel port of Eilat and the 1967 War, and all that resulted, may never have happened.

Betraying Israel, and ignoring the commitment, Johnson refused.

"Let's put it this way, the words of the Iranian president himself are enough to make any and all sane men shudder. Because anyone who ignores what he and the other Arabs are saying, does so at his own peril."

Amen Brother. That guy is about the scariest thing I've ever seen. He is insane, and he has a whole bunch of other lunatics who actually believe this 12th Imam stuff.

This has ALWAYS been the ultimate nightmare. A nutjob with nuclear weapons.

Wow long thread so this may already be asked and answered but,

what is the context here? Iranian missile attack, or any large scale attack? Because Israel is attacked every day. What if Hezbullah unleashes 10,000 rockets on Israel...will the US intervene?

Missing some context, here. Is the US volunteering to occupy the areas that Israel withdraws from after disengagement?

I am a so-called, "anti Bushbot" because the man is less conservative than some moderate Demonrats, but I agree on this position. Those who bless Israel, will be blessed; those who curse Israel, will be cursed to live in the stone-age (the Muslim world).

I also agree with him...I just don't necessarily believe him...

If nukes are launched and we get involved, I have no doubt our new missle defense system will get some practice...They've had some success with the defensive missles but I don't know that they've tried to defend against offshore submarine launched cruise missles...

But no doubt, The USA will get lit up...
