With the exception of the FW190 and the ME262, I have never been a huge fan of German aircraft styling, but boy that is one beautiful and dangerous looking bird!

This one's a reproduction; I wonder if they used chromium in the engines like the original design called for. Germany ran out of chromium due to allied bombing, so they used more steel in the engine. As a result, the number of hours it could be used before the engines had to be overhauled was absurdly short. Made operating it a complete pain.

the ME262 and ME 109 really were cool looking.. and although I love the look and the power of the Mustang. My favorite WWII warbird was the enemic P-40 as used by Chenault and the flying tigers.

Claus Colling is the owner. He's building NEW FW-190's - you can buy one for about 550,000 Euros. He invited my brother and I to his factory in Gammelsdorf a couple years ago. Very nice people and very proud (rightfully so) of the beasts they were building...
