Mexican President Vicente Fox will address a joint session of the California Legislature and meet with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Thursday.
It will be Schwarzenegger's first meeting with Fox since he became governor in 2003, although the two have met before.
Fox and members of his cabinet also will meet in private with Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez, D-Los Angeles, and attend a reception and dinner hosted by Schwarzenegger, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
The Mexican president is visiting California to promote trade with Mexico, as part of a four-day trip that starts Tuesday in Utah and includes Washington state.
He arrives in the midst of a heated immigration debate. Schwarzenegger is mulling whether to send National Guard units to the border as part of President Bush's plan to increase security by augmenting the U.S. Border Patrol with 6,000 Guard troops.
On Friday, the Tribune reported, he will travel to Los Angeles for a meeting with Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and speak to members of the Mexican community.

Well. Maybe International ANSWER can roust up a couple hundred thousand to wave Mexican flags in greeting. Gotta avoid them upside down US ones though ... might give somebody the "wrong" idea.

Possibly they are plotting strategy for the future?Nunez is a member of Moviminto Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan.
I also forgot more prominent figures who are MEChA members are :
Senator Gil Cedillo
and Antonio Villargrosa-Mayor of Los Angeles. According to the article, he is scheduled to meet with him on Friday to discuss issues regards to the Mexican population here in Los Angeles.

If Mexico has anything to do with L.A., it would mean the Democrats involvement. It's really strange how Mexico can play panata with both our political parties?

I also had some Census 2000 data sent to me, that says 40% of Californians do not speak English at home and 26% are foreign-born.

I can not vouch for this site personally, just found it , but some there are itching to go to the Capitol or so it sounds.

Kelly, you are brave. I vamoosed out of that state 14 years ago. It is no where near the place I was born, raised and lived for almost 30 years.

"member of Moviminto Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan."
Bad, bad news. The whole L.A. scene with Antonio Villagrosa as mayor, who has past Mecha connections, has really put a Spanish fly in the California Tortilla Soup. I lived most of my life in Southern California. I've seen the transformation. It will NEVER, EVER be the same again.
