Mexican president to address California Legislature (Thursday May 25th ,, He should feel at home.)

Mexican President Vicente Fox will address a joint session of the California Legislature and meet with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Thursday.

It will be Schwarzenegger's first meeting with Fox since he became governor in 2003, although the two have met before.

Fox and members of his cabinet also will meet in private with Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez, D-Los Angeles, and attend a reception and dinner hosted by Schwarzenegger, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

The Mexican president is visiting California to promote trade with Mexico, as part of a four-day trip that starts Tuesday in Utah and includes Washington state.

He arrives in the midst of a heated immigration debate. Schwarzenegger is mulling whether to send National Guard units to the border as part of President Bush's plan to increase security by augmenting the U.S. Border Patrol with 6,000 Guard troops.

On Friday, the Tribune reported, he will travel to Los Angeles for a meeting with Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and speak to members of the Mexican community.

He'll be in Utah, Washington and California during his 4 day visit.

"Fox and members of his cabinet also will meet in private with Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez, D-Los Angeles..."

But of course they will. Nunez is a Mexico first reconquistador. He should have to register as a foreign agent and be barred from US office. Of course that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Cocky bastard.

Does America have any pride left, or should we just hand the SW over to Mexico now?

Roughly 10 percent of Mexico's population of about 107 million is now living in the United States, estimates show. About 15 percent of Mexico's labor force is working in the United States. One in every 7 Mexican workers migrates to the United States.

this idiot idea that all people yearn for freedom and if we
just give them a chance they will be good citizens. Its all crap these people want whitey to die plain and simple.

I think is horrible timing on President Fox to be giving a speech on this very topic. It has the potential to inflame a already volatile situation and cause further backlash. But there are many California legislature that who are members of La Raza or MEChA, such as the Speaker Nunez, Senator Pro Tem Don Perata and Lt Governor Bustamante and he will be speaking to a rather friendly audience. I hope there are members of the State Legislature would exercise to protest by not attending.

According to the 2000 census, there are four million Mexican-born residents of California or about one in every 8 residents. Fox is just going to speak to his constituents.
