A co-worker just told me that President Bush asked Gov. Jeb Bush to run for President in '08.

I hope this is true and that Gov. Bush decides to run.

I agree with this article soooo much. Bush should be Sainted. He is a God. Not just any god, a God! To criticize is to blaspheme. HE knows what is good for us. The burdens of our sins are on HIS shoulders, I don't know how he can bear the burden.

There isn't a single person on this forum who marches in 'lockstep.'

So, what policy or decision has W made in the past 6 years that you disagree with, and have voiced your displeasure with?

The people you have problems with are the real base........us.

Allow me to invoke Ronaldus Magnus, "There you go again."

When the Pendulum swings far enough to the right, it ends up on the left. There is very little difference between the far right and the far left, because neither of them are electable

I have vocally (on this forum) opposed CFR and the Guest Worker/ Illigal immigration policy.

Not that you'll let the truth get in the way of your stereotype........

The President's base are Conservative Republicans like me. His base does not consist of Buchananites or libertarians. And his base has supported him in record numbers all through his Presidency.

The extremists on this forum have NEVER supported him, but they have grown increasingly angry and out of control, and now they are in danger of doing real damage to the conservative movement. (And they always invoke the name of Ronald Reagan, whom they also failed to support).

Conservatives actually think, DTogo..........and these people do nothing more than feel.

"Sarcasm?"

I am never sarcastic. I truly do stand in awe of Harriet Meiers, CFR, no vetoes, a doubled budget, open borders, the education department, compassionate conservatism, and everything and anything George Bush and his family says or does. Only abject loyalty is worthy of such a great man. Only when you are a true believer will you be allowed into the Kingdom of the Republican Elite. Others will be raked on the coals for deviating from the geocentric orthodoxy, and who am I to be raked. Certainly, GW is the best we could have gotten, and there is no hope for anything better.

I was just coming home in the car and have Rush Limbaugh's show on. Someone named Mark Belling (?) is filling in for Rush today.

He's taken at least one call from someone who lives in Texas and I think the other call was from someone in another border state.

They both just said what those of us who aren't hysterical border thread jumpers have been saying. They said that everyone they've talked with likes the president's plan.

They don't agree with all aspects of it and some people do wish it was a little stronger on various issues, but that at least the president is trying to do something. One caller even said most people he talked with are fine with the Senate's plan (considered less stringent than the House plan) and that most people are VERY angry at Congress for balking the president and arguing instead of actually DOING something.

And I should have added that Mark Belling (?) himself said that although he doesn't like all aspects of the president's plan, he's trying to do something vs. the nothing that has been done for 30 years.

Not sarcasm, Pippin........the rantings of insanity.

But very revealing about what is, or is NOT inside Bush haters.

In a word, what is missing............decency.

I need to turn Rush's show on.

Sounds like Mark is making more sense than Rush has been making lately.

Maybe Mark doesn't read FR and think the hysterical speak for other conservatives.

Good for him!

If you believe that's what the article says, suggest you take a remedial reading course.

The opinion shapers on this forum have moved normally good freepers into hysteria mode. It's unseemly and embarrassing.

The problem isn't with the disagreement, DT. The problem is with the vile attacks.

Same problem I had with the Harriet Miers discussions. There is no excuse for a lynch mob.

The President's signing of McCain's CFR was a disaster and IMHO disrespectful of the Constitution. His imposition of steel tariffs was wrong. He has tolerated some weak sisters in his cabinet for far too long -- especially underperformin' Norman. I can't stand the smirks. He has not shown leadership on Federal Spending. He should have had Jihad Johnny Lindh shot as a traitor instead of sympathizing with him.

I could list other disagreements I have with the President. Nevertheless I still support him -- because there are so many issues, many listed on this thread, where he has done well.

He has not earned the hatred and vile attacks from the Left -- much less from the Right. Jorge, betrayal, traitor -- this is complete garbage. People using these terms reveal themselves as bitter haters and lunatic fringers.

Free Republic is an appropriate site for tough, uncompromising, frank criticism of ANY politician, including the President. It is NOT the appropriate site for vile attacks and personal venom -- the right site for that is DU.
