Senator Bill Nelson (D) from Florida has hit the 60% level of support in his bid for re-election. The latest Rasmussen Reports election poll shows Nelson leading likely GOP challenger Katherine Harris (R) by twenty-seven percentage points, 60% to 33%.
This Senate seat was once considered a a pick-up opportunity for the GOP. However, as the Harris campaign imploded earlier this year, Florida Republicans were unable to recruit a top-tier candidate to challenge Harris in the primary. As a result, Nelson is now one of the nation's safest incumbents.
Senator Nelson is viewed favorably by 66% of the state's voters and unfavorably by just 23%.
For Harris, the numbers are just 42% favorable and 50% unfavorable. This includes 41% who have a very unfavorable opinion of their former Secretary of State.
Fifty-nine percent (59%) of Florida voters approve of the way Governor Jeb Bush (R) is performing his job.

This is data from a respected pollster, nothing more. People can make of it whatever they choose.
If this doesn't convince Katherine's biggest supporters she is in real trouble, nothing will.
I didn't see this one coming! :-)
It's getting harder and harder to stay in denial about her candidacy. If it were just us, she'd be in by a landslide, but this just isn't working out with the general population.
When I saw it, I wasn't surprised.
But the filing deadline passed weeks ago. What's done is done.

The only reason that Katherine Harris is losing is because fair-weather GOP activists like you.
If you were more supportive, she wouldn't be losing so badly.
It's the MSM's fault...it's Karl Rove's fault...it's Jeb Bush's fault...it's L Ron Hubbard's fault...(insert your excuse here)...
(sarcasm off)
If I were her, I'd be watching my back at this point, who knows what Karl Rove is capable of?
LOL
There has to be a reason why the press keeps trying to diminish her campaign.
Here is the result of us doing nothing:

Due to his space adventure, most of his constituents confuse him with Major Nelson ("I Dream of Jeannie"):
Maybe Barbara Eden can get her elected.
(sarcasm)
10% is a deficit
20% is a hole
30% is a tragedy waiting to happen. Where is she at now? Down by 27%? Since WHEN is it a good idea to back anyone who is down that much?
Yeah, I know. But every bit of effort we deny her campaign is a boost for "Silly Willy Nelson".
Katherine Harris has actually narrowed Bill Nelson's lead by 3 points from last month's poll. At that rate, she will be running even with Nelson by April of 2007.
When you ask the average person, here in Florida, "Who is Bill Nelson?" , most of them have no idea.
We are still way early in the game here, and that gives us a chance to get organized.
"Way early"??? It's far too late. We're talking about a U.S. Senate campaign in a major state. Kathleen Harris is not an unknown quantity, she is quite well known. Unfortunately for her, the electorate is judging her very unfavorably, while at the same time judging the incumbent rather favorably.
A five, ten, or even fifteen percent deficit at this point would allow Harris supporters to nurse a slender thread of hope. But anybody who believes a 27% gap can be overcome under these circumstances is totally delusional.
Harris is dead meat.
We are not sinking, regardless of all the negative stuff the liberal media is deluging us with.
They are scared. Otherwise we wouldn't be reading all this B.S.
Well since the only other choice is Bill Nelson (Dem.) you are ready to display the "white flag"?
Wow!
When Kennedy, Kerry, and Klinton say "jump", Nelson asks "how high". Harris will expose him for what he is, and she will win in November.
The polls don't mean diddly squat.
