Woman in court on recycle charges

Donna Challice
Donna Challice denies six charges
A 30-year-old mother of three has appeared before magistrates in Devon accused of failing to recycle household waste properly.

Donna Challice, of Wonford, Exeter, is being prosecuted for contaminating recyclable rubbish under the Environmental Protection Act.

She denies six charges brought by Exeter City Council in what is thought to be the first case of its kind.

The case was adjourned by Cullompton magistrates for two weeks.

She was was released on bail and will next appear at the same court on 5 June for a pre-trial review.

The offences of putting food waste into recycling bins are alleged to have taken place on 2 and 16 November 2005, 30 and 14 December 2005, and 8 and 22 February 2006.

She faces a possible fine of £1,000 and court costs if found guilty.

Under the Environmental Protection Act, local authorities have the power to specify how people separate their waste, which bin it should be placed in and which day it will be collected.

It is on the economic costs of the British recycling program and demonstrates that recycling schemes are, almost without exception, a gross waste of time, money and effort.

The Brits must have a similar crew managing recycling operations as we do here in the USA  :-)

According to other posts in this thread, this sort of thing is also happening here in the USA.  Please see posts #3 and #13.

Banger and chips

A CHIP factory was evacuated after a hand grenade was found in a batch of potatoes.

The McCain processing plant in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, was cleared when the Second World War device was discovered in a mud separating machine.

Bomb disposal experts from the Army Logistics Corps removed the device and carried out a controlled explosion in a nearby sports field.

The potatoes involved were imported from Belgium and Northern France, where some of the fiercest fighting of the two world wars took place.

McCain spokesman Will Hill today insisted there was nothing to be concerned about.

"Occasionally during the use of imported potatoes from Belgium and northern France, debris from the First and Second World War is found," he said.

"Our standard procedure was enacted and on advice from the police and the bomb squad, a 100-metre exclusion zone was set up to ensure the safety of our employees.

"This resulted in the evacuation of our factories until the bomb squad removed the item. There was no danger to the public on either day."

I live just outside the Seattle city limits, which means I have narrowly avoided having to abide by their insane recycling laws and associated penalties for infractions. Recycling is a fraud.

You are not only benefiting from being out of the evil and poisonous reach of the Marxist / Socialist Seattle City Council but you also have more hours in the day available for living your life the way you want to because you don't have to futz around with multiple bins of TRASH cluttering up your home.  Has there ever been a serious study showing clear economic benefits of recycling on a citywide scale of a population of a million plus?  I haven't heard of one.  The only cost analyses that I've seen show recycling on a large, citywide scale costing more than it saves.

Investigate this, probably the local mayor cross contaminated her trash in the dark of night so as to seize her property on which the mayor's brother intends to open a porn shop.

Multiply your home by a thousand , and think of how many gallons of water are used washing garbage.

LOL! I never thought about it that way. That's a great retort for the enviro-wackos.

I'll recycle paper w/o too much angst, but I'll be damned if I'm going to keep bins in my already too small kitchen for tin and bottles, and wash the damn things to boot! To my understanding, the only recycling that sometimes makes money is paper, the rest is a money losing proposition.

I live in Seattle. I didn't see your post before I posted mine, but to my knowledge, only paper recycling sometimes makes a profit. The rest is a wasted effort if revenue is the motive.

I don't want multiple trash bins either. The heaps o'paper and boxes take up quite enough room, thank you, and I don't even get the daily paper. I can't spare the time I'd spend recycling the damn stuff.

I toured a soon-to-be operational plant near Philadelphia around 10 years ago. It processed garbage and using high-tech mechanical and chemical processes to efficiently sort all the recyclables and dispose (burn) mush of the real waste.

The technology's getting better and better, and yet we get asked to sort more.

Yes, but they recognized the terrible danger that British society faces by her being out and about, and so they may well fine her A THOUSAND POUNDS plus court costs.  Here is the current market rate:

1,000.00 GBP
United Kingdom Pounds
= 1,881.63 USD
United States Dollars
1 GBP = 1.88163 USD   1 USD = 0.531453 GBP

XE.com - Universal Currency Converter Results

When you add in court costs, this matter may well cost her the equivalent of $2,500.00 or more.  A presumably single mum of three living in a rural area who is deprived of that much money will most likely have far fewer options for such heinous troublemaking available to her...thank Goodness for Government; they have spared the community untold trauma pain and mayhem by showing this dangerous scofflaw that they mean business!

Oh, and when you see her and her children begging for food on the streets after she pays the fine, show them no mercy....anyone who dares to defy the Religion of Environmentalism deserves the worst punishments imaginable!

I was riding along one day and saw an ad on a billboard for Picnic tables made from recycled plastic.

What a great idea I thought. They will never rot and will be smooth and free from splinters. A great way to use a waste product. Should be cheap too.

Well I was certainly wrong about the last part. They wanted $400.00 for the things.

I can build 3 out of treated wood for that price.
I left wondering what a plastic picnic table out of new plastic would cost.
