Compressed air also requires energy to get the air in the tank.

That' what I meant by costing money.

energy in any form = $$$$$

If it runs on hot air, senators and congresscritters will be in line for it, and still stiff us for the bill to buy it.

Can it haul 2000 pounds of concrete or tow my 25 foot boat?

Maybe the compressed air is propane.

Now THAT will actually work. Kind of.

How 'bout this car that runs on, well, a certain kind of air...

"The gas bag car" 1918.
From during the gasoline shortages in UK during WWI. The car ran on methane gas collected on a farm.

No, but in the original design of this one, they'd drag it backwards a few feet and it'd run amout a mile before peetering out.

Quite right, Sir Issac must be paid!

This is the issue with electric cars as well. Energy is energy, its where it is generated that matters. The real pollution minimization with electrics is that power plants are much cleaner than cars per unit of measure.

Compressed air is a storage medium, and a not particularly efficient one at that.

Here is an airplane that runs on compressed air!

And a rocket!

I think that the kiddie cars actually look much better. They certainly look cooler.

I'm skeptical of any product that contain deception in the description.

After ten years of research and development of pollution-free engines and cars powered by compressed air, MDI is proud to present:
Compressed Air Technology systems © : C.A.T's ©

It is not pollution free. It simply moves the pollution to another location. I don't see (although I only quickly skimmed the web site) a discussion on the efficiencies of first generating power at a power plant, transmitting through multiple transformers, transmission and distribution lines, using electricity to power an air compressor that has losses due to heating of the air, then using that pressure to move the vehicle.

A more meaningful discussion should have compared miles per dollar to traditional engines.
