The idea to form the North American Union as a super-NAFTA knitting together Canada, the United States and Mexico into a super-regional political and economic entity was a key agreement resulting from the March 2005 meeting held at Baylor University in Waco, Tex., between President Bush, President Fox and Prime Minister Martin.

This guy, Robert Pastor, has testified before Congress, been on talk radio, and written extensively on the subject. Hes serious and has some heavy support in the government.

I don't know why we would go to the "Amero". For all intents and purposes, the U.S. dollar is the universal currency for North America, including the Caribbean already.

Well, that will make at least two of us.
On a lighter note from up thread maybe we can get them to cancel American Idol at the same time. I can't stand karaoke.

Canada's GDP is less than 1/12 that of the US. Mexico is similar.
In 5 years we will likely have grown economically as much as Canada and Mexico combined would add...
And I don't see any upside to having our currency tied to Canada's much less Mexico's.OIL OIL OIL OIL
Follow the oil. They are our number one and two oil suppliers. Higher the crude price, more belligerent Hugo is (Venezuela is #4 oil supplier) the more we need to suck up to Messico and Canuckistan

The dollar was replaced in 1933, when the provision of the Constitution which says that nothing can be legal tender except gold and silver coin was suspended by executive order.

This happened in Europe. 80% of Germans wanted to keep the DM, and for good reason. But the Euro was simply crammed down their throats, especially by big business, the banks, investors and politicians. The real reason was not the nonsense about exchanges rates, but about spreading the economic miseries of weak states to Germany, and creating a power currency to challenge the Dollar.

I don't necessarily believe this either. However, I do believe there are groups out there that would love for this to be the case. Especially, Mexico. Infiltrate our country with millions of their citizens, wait until they are legalized, they will take over towns and cities and before long they will be voted into office. They don't have any allegiance to the US but to their own countrymen. We are seeing the beginning of it right now. It may not happen right away, but our children will be the ones to have to deal with it.

"This would be politically impossible in all three countries. Especially Canada."
The Canadian economy is booming. The US dollar has been devalued by nearly 50% against the Canadian dollar over the last three years. Ontario has moved past Michigan in regard to auto industry jobs and units produced. Canada has a balanced budget and the lowest cost of doing business among any G7 nation. So, why would Canada want to take on US debt or be tied to US fiscal policy?

On the other hand, joining the US, Canada and Mexico into one country is about the only chance the US has of securing it's borders. . . .

Why do you think they're making American paper money in such pretty colors now?
They're getting us ready to accept new currency.
Boil that frog.
