They can save him if they wish to. The leg will heal even if he's not sound enough to race.

Nope. Not a dollar on this race. I bet the Derby and always stay away from the East coast races. :)

It looks like he has fractured one of the bones in his fetlock/pastern.

Of course we can't tell for sure just looking at TV, but my initial impression is that the break is in the cannon bone above the ankle.

They aren't built fragile. I wish they were older, they'd break down less if they had another year to grow. But all sport has risk. It happens.

If there isn't any soft tissue damage and no irritations or infections, and if the bone isn't pulverized, they will save him.

They can save him if they wish to.

They'll want to, but whether or not they can is uncertain. We in the general public just don't have enough information. If they can operate, the biggest hurdle will be how he comes out of anathesia after the operation. This is life threatening, though, Hair.

It really is depressing. One moment so full of hope, then it all crashes.

I feel a little bad for the winner. It'd suck to win the race on the day no one wants to talk to you.

Yeah, he's a Dubai horse - Sheik Mohamed.

I'm very sad about Barbaro. Has anyone thought of sabotage?

I understand all that. The vet was hopeful, I don't know why we shouldn't be.

that happened in the Belmont when Charismatic got hurt too. No one wanted to talk to my beloved Lemondropkid.

Then Ruffian shattered her leg in that match race at Belmont and I got physically ill. My interest in the sport began to go downhill after than, and now I rarely watch a horse race.

I am physically sick right now over this.......... gotta get out of here....

If he was standing waiting for the ambulance, he'll be all right. They can save him.

If he were out of his mind with pain, and wouldn't stand still, he might kill himself like Ruffian did . . . poor mare. I saw that race live and the worst part was when they couldn't get her to hold still.

There's a stud that I read about who has an artifical leg from the stifle down. Took some work to adapt it for him, but he does o.k.
