Thanks for your thoughts. I agree that W is at his best when all around are crying woe is us. I don't know that he's resolved this illegal issue to my satisfaction.
No its not all right. Thats the whole point. This whole problem has got to be normalized and there has to a ethical, legal, moral, economic and same policy to do that. There are twelve million of them here. If these workers were not in Louisiana they would be else where.
New Orleans and the coast has got to get prepared for hurricane season and time is running out. We need every available worker we can get. Now in the perfect world insurance companies would have paid out their benefits without complaint and all Govt promises from a local, state , and national level would have been fulfilled and we wouldnt be in this mess. However thats not the world as it is. If the illegals were all rounded up in NOlA and the hurricane affected areas we would be in a heck of a mess. These folks are not just mowing yards and waiting on tables. They are doing the messy grunt work for our literal survival that Anderson Cooper doesn't show on CNN when he comes down for his 360 episodes.
Good reply Dark !!!!
Hehe, weinercrats, makes me smile this morning. I like that.
Wanna rephrase that? Because it seems you're saying we don't hear about more foiled plots because they involve terrorists who came in from the southern border.
What exactly are you saying?
The one and only argument that stopped a Liberal friend of mine cold was that illegals are indentured servants, a new slave class. He didn't know what to say. Troubling doesn't begin to describe it. My outrage, I confess, is that this has been done without the permission of the people who live here. It was conceived behind closed doors by elites with their own agenda. I can't get past that.
You're right, the problem is incredibly complicated and ready or not...here comes hurricane season.
The similarities between the Savage Weiner and the loons at Air America is uncanny at times. Even if they can't agree politically, they can discuss their shared affection for screaming and show tunes.
My son, in his early 20s, WAS an avid supporter of President Bush.
My son was in California a few weeks ago when millions of third world anarchists, radicals, and illegal aliens, marched thru the streets demanding the US change its laws to suit them. My son, as was I, was stunned at realizing how close we've become to mob rule, and Bush is to blame, I fear.
Ironically, Bush is giving these left-wing communist sympathizers from Central America exactly what they want.
My son, as do I, suddenly sees President George Bush in a different light, as someone who would willingly push the US toward third world status by passing this assinine legislation that would have 100-200 million new third world immigrants flood across our borders within the next 20 years.
WHAT IS THE FREAKIN RUSH. Frankly, we should pass tough laws against hiring illegals, and these criminals who border jumped can remain in limbo forever.
Either that, or they can go back to their home country and do things right.
"It was conceived behind closed doors by elites with their own agenda. I can't get past that."
Ok this where I part comapny I guess with the thoughts of some here and where they lose me. I do think if you have a guest worker program and other things these folks will economically move up. However, I just dont get this theory that this planned out by "elites". I mean I know there are big companies involved. But small business has fueled this economy and this is where I feel most of the demand is coming from. I don't think this was all planned out. The market did it without planning of outside forces and with the assistance of no border control what so ever. The market went mad and we are reaping the negative side effects of that in part.
Thats why Border control is a big must. I dont care how its done. But its clear the current situation can not go on much longer
Right. Phrased badly. More coffee definitely needed. How on God's green earth the US could have made it through the past four years (with incredibly leaky borders), with nothing having been blown up or sabotaged by our enemies. This state of affairs boggles the mind. Bush has indeed said we won't know of every victory, and I simply wondered if there isn't more than one reason...besides protecting national security. Could it possibly be that negative discussion about the southern border, especially in regard to Al Qaeda or bin Laden might upset wide open borders and the North American Trading Bloc?
Well I am hoping if hurricanes hit the gulf they all hit those desolate parts of Texas beach. The gulf coast from Florida to Louisiana cant take much more. The problem would not be so severe if in fact the areas of Miss and Louisiana were not so much what they call a working coast. You know oil, gas, shipping, fishing versus a Florida like situation. Not to say Florida doesnt suffer damage but it seems here when you have to live and work the land and water it seems more severe.
Yes it does. We have children on the Alabama gulf.
...( I thought English WAS/IS our national language)
Exactomundo.
My local cable tv company is adding new Spanish-only stations monthly.
Signs in stores, businesses, post offices, schools, EVERYWHERE are in Spanish.
Police deptartments are being forced to hire translators just to book and process the influx of illegal alien criminals who get arrested.
Nearby big-box apartment complexes have suddenly gone all 'Hispanic'.
No, my friends, as much as I like and respect all peoples and cultures, this flood of illegals is overwhelming America.
Last months, millions of illegals and non-illegal Hispanic immigrants marched the streets, demanding we change our laws.
If Bush gets his way, there will be tens of millions and maybe more marching the streets in years to come, demanding we change even more.
I don't think of myself as an alarmist. I just happen to like the America of today, and don't want to see it morph into third world status.
Mexico and other Central American countries have bountiful natural resources and opportunities. If Bush was smart, he would send advisors and whatever to help and teach those countries how to create a middle class.
The US cannot afford to absorb 200 million unskilled poor people over the next 20 years.
If that happens, America will cease to be the same as we know it today.
Well thats an area that cant take anymore That area of Gulf Shores was about gone two years ago. We use to vacation there all the time. I dont think its recovered yet fully
Like other forms of political correctness both Repubs and Dems illogically are saying that the more important problem is how to deal compassionately with illegal aliens already here, instead of fixing the source of the problem. This is compounded by the desire of many lawmakers to work on trade barriers instead of border barriers. The form of the bill that had 193 million new immigrants over the next 20 years (in fine print) just says we have an open border policy.
Given the health screening that took place at Ellis Island for my ancestors, I get the feeling that our country is in a state of decay as we have outbreaks of hepatitis, mumps, tuberculosis, AIDs, etc. because we want open borders. Our immigration policy discriminates against white Europeans thanks to Teddy Kennedy in 1965. This whole situation is troubling.
We should just secure our borders, and then take the time needed to rework our immigration policy, including how best to deal with illegals.
Is there some kind of stamp that can be affixed to the beginning of threads like these that would designate "Caution--Children Playing At Work" or some such, to warn the conservative base to move along, that they would be wasting their time mixing it up with the "smoke and mirrors" and "my president right or wrong" set of the Republican Party faithful? Our country is being sold out to the internationalists hook line and sinker. Yet we continue to hear from folks for whom the largest macrocosm remains the blah blah blah between the two political parties, both of which have lost all credibility. Y'all need to stay in the sports section of the newspaper, root for your home teams, and leave the difficult stuff like nation-saving to the adults.
