I know exactly what you are dealing with. We have my father in law - 92, with dementia and blind. He fell and just broke an arm about a year ago. Made a complete recovery
We are blessed to have kept him here at home. We pretty much know that if the time comes that he must go somewhere else, he would die soon. The disruption of his environment would be more than he could endure.
I would encourage you to get all the support you can on making this decision. The hospital should have a patient advocate. I have used that.
Hospice may be a resource. They are great for us.

just lost my dear mother a month ago......I hope you can hang on to yours ....life just isn't the same when your mom dies, even if she's up there in years.....
