The worst thing said in the case involving rape charges against Duke University students was not said by either the prosecutor or the defense attorneys, or even by any of the accusers or the accused. It was said by a student at North Carolina Central University, a black institution attended by the stripper who made rape charges against Duke lacrosse players.
According to Newsweek, the young man at NCCU said that he wanted to see the Duke students prosecuted, "whether it happened or not. It would be justice for things that happened in the past."
This is the ugly attitude that is casting a cloud over this whole case. More important, this collective guilt and collective revenge attitude has for years been poisoning race relations in this country.

Continues.........
At one time, the black civil rights leadership aimed at putting an end to racism, and especially to the perversion of the law to convict people because of their race, regardless of guilt or innocence.
Today, this young man at NCCU represents the culmination of a new racist trend promoted by current black "leaders" to make group entitlements paramount, including seeking group revenge rather than individual justice in courts of law.
This attitude poisoned the O.J. Simpson case and it is now polarizing reactions to the Duke University case. Racial polarization is a dangerous game, especially dangerous for minorities in the long run.
Tragically, the way the Duke case is being handled, it looks as if District Attorney Michael Nifong is pandering to these ugly feelings. Legal experts seem baffled as to why he is proceeding in the way that he is because it is hard to explain legally.
It is not hard to explain politically, however. The District Attorney may well owe his recent election victory to having tapped into the kinds of racial resentments expressed by the young man at North Carolina Central University.

It is good that this attitude is being reported on because it is nothing new. This kind of "Whitey owes us" sentiment can run rampant in minority communities if it is not countered in some way.

This is true b/c heaping on guilt only lasts for so long before apathy sets in, not to mention 'the boy who called wolf' syndrome. The entire victim game becomes old and pathetic, but hey as long as money is to be made by the Sharptons and Jacksons the race baiting will continue.

This is the direct results of politicians pandering to be elected. It is the direct results of the leadership of the Jessie Jacksons and Al Sharptons of this country. It is the direct results of liberals,Democrats and Republicans whose only desire is their own power and control and the masses in America will pay for it because between immigration, liberal college professors, and the terrorist America is on the brink of disaster and on top of this we have been driven into a tizzy where we will have to fight rather than switch because Congress has become a "Bully Pullpit" of partisan politics.

Racial tension mostly fabricated by race baiters is a business, and a very profitable one at that.

Human sacrifice? Yeah, that's JUST the kind of thing Black Americans need to be doing to put a stop to racism.

Yep, and political black America is getting very close to putting the entire mechanism in reverse.
Just a glimpse of what the U.S. would be like if entirely dominated by libs.

Fortunately more and more blacks are realizing this and hoisting the BS flag on high. There's a big rift in black politics that continues to grow even wider. Many are asking themselves why they support sheer and utter riff-raff simply b/c they are the same skin color. Imagine.

Can you imagine the national outrage that would result if the races were reversed and some white racists called for the persecution of accused blacks, "just because?" From GWB on down the outcry would be deafening.

Right. What's happening in this country is that a major sea-change has occurred in the minds of many black leaders. This kind of nonsense isn't going to get any traction in the long run, and would only do great damage to black Americans if it ever did. It's no mere coincidence that Bill Cosby made headlines with his "controversial" (i.e., truthful) comments about the cultural issues in black families right around the time that Hispanics surpassed blacks as the largest minority group in this country.
If it weren't for the fact that "higher education" in the U.S. has become little more than the one venue where bizarre, idiotic, and emotionally stunted ideas are held in high regard, I suspect Dr. Sowell would have had a hard time coming up with enough material to write a column on this subject.

I agree there would be outrage. But the Blacks feel that we have done this to them since slavery days in America. All of this is payback, payback, payback. The civil rights movement, quotas, NAACP, and all the stuff that we have tried to do to help the Black American has somehow failed them. And everyone is right about Sharpton, Jackson, etc. These guys want to keep the black man "DOWN", or they are NOTHING. Black Americans should make up their minds. A perfect example is Condi Rice. Why don't the blacks like her? She is a successful, intelligent Black WOMAN. What about J.C. Watts? Nope. These kind of people threaten the likes of Jackson, etc. If you remember there was a situation in New York City, where a couple of black youths robbed and ran after a white kid and yelled, "Let's get whitey". The kid ran into a moving car and was killed. One little piece in the news. Police looked into it and decided it wasn't a hate crime - just like that - poof - gone. Never heard anything again. If it was the other way around, Sharpton would have been marching in the steets with his hoodlums.

I would say the bulk of the blame goes to colleges for their African-American, Women's, Mexican-American, Gay-American Studies courses that promulgate such horse****.

From GWB on down the outcry would be deafening. It's not so much that liberals have racist tendencies; it's that they are incapable of seeing the world any other way.
The entire concept of the "individual" is completely lost on collectivists. To them, people exist ONLY as members of one group or another.

Just because an R is in front of a name, does not make them a conservative.
