MP told she is 'not a citizen'

By Joan Clements in The Hague
(Filed: 17/05/2006)

The Dutch MP who lied to gain asylum fought back tears yesterday as she confirmed she was resigning her seat after being told her citizenship may be withdrawn.

Somalian-born Ayaan Hirsi Ali also said she was leaving for America. She said her job was now "impossible" after a "shocking" letter from Rita Verdonk, the immigration minister, saying Miss Hirsi Ali could no longer consider herself Dutch because of the lies she told the immigration authorities in 1992.

Europe has hit rock bottom, and proceeded to dig. They will not survive this century.

Hirsi Ali had already suggested she may move to the United States after she was subjected to a court injunction evicting her from her home, after her neighbors sued on grounds that her presence exposed them to the risk of a terroristic attack, although the police had testified in court that it was one of the safest places in the country due to the many personnel they had assigned there.

In a reaction, former VVD minister Hans Wiegel stated that her departure "would not be a loss to the VVD and not be a loss to the Tweede Kamer". Wiegel said that Hirsi Ali was a brave woman, but that her opinions were polarizing.

Yes, the truth can be polarizing... Too bad so many simply want to hide from it hoping it will go away...

If she needs a place to stay while she's here she can give us a call. Anyone this brave can share our roof and break bread with us anytime.

She may very well be in the Netherlands illegally, but she's been sponsored to come here so no laws are being broken.

The poster who's trolling this thread is shamefully ignorant of this womans history.

I think some measure of forgiveness is warranted, given her past - but there's no getting around the fact that she should have come clean much, much sooner than she did. Perpetuating a lie to save your life is one thing - but to escalate it by serving in the governement without clearing up the matter is quite another.

Note to self: try to find out if there's any chance the Hildebeast isn't a citizen...

She publicly stated that she lied on her application back in 2002 before she was elected.

So you are incorrect.

So you are incorrect.

She told the PARTY that she had lied. She didn't necessarily resolve the matter with the government. The analogy would be like discovering that some Southwestern gubernatorial candidate told the Democrats "hey, I lied about my citizenship status" and the Dems saying "well, we won't tell if you don't", but not proceeding to first get his citizenship resolved with the gov't.

Of course, the issue here is that the situation is now analogous to a rival Dem saying "well, _I_ want to increase my power, so after previously saying 'don't worry', NOW I'm going to rat you out..."

Compound that with the fact that a large part of the Dutch government seems to want to be rid of this woman in order to somehow assuage the islamofascists in their midst.

You'd think that fairly recent European history would show the Dutch MPs that appeasement doesn't work. But who knows; maybe the memories of this generation of Dutch have shortened dramatically for some reason. Maybe it's the hashish...

Yeah, the fact the the appeasers are eager to be rid of her is definitely worth several points in her favor...

By what right is she coming to America?

Didn't you know? America is the World's cesspool. We'll take the garbage flushed out from any country.

She didn't simply tell the "party". She told everyone. She set the record straight in both books she wrote and public speeches. There was nothing subtle about it. The people who voted for her knew the facts prior to electing her.

Hey, I guess you're the expert. I just can't find any evidence that the public at large knew the full extent of the lies she told. Everything I've read suggests that she admitted some lies to everyone, and admitted the rest of the lies only to some. I would happily follow any link that indicates otherwise.

One of the articles mentions that she was reported to have lived through five civil wars in Somalia (not true, since she was in Kenya during that time) and suffered a forced marriage (also apparently not true). What I'm reading on some foreign message boards is that people voted for her partly because they believed she bettered herself after surviving the wars in Somalia and a forced marriage. That tends to cast aspersions on her "mandate" by the people. But like I say, I'm willing to be educated.

gafusa provided a good link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ayaan_Hirsi_Ali

She said that she didn't tell the truth on her Dutch asylum application. Specifically her age, name and where she had been. As far as her claim of an arranged marriage, there's no reason not to believe her. That's a common Muslim practice, particularly in third world countries.

As far as believing what her "family" now says, I take it with a grain of salt. Their Muslim "honor" has been violated by her and if they are like typical third world Muslim's they will say and do anything to restore their "honor". And the only way they can do that is kill her. She's had a price on her head for some time now.

"You're an idiot.... and a fool.... and ignorant to boot - the triple crown of stupidity."

That's what I like about people like you.

They can't defend their statements so they resort to name calling.

"You obviously have no idea of whom you are talking about."

And you can't seem to fill me in.

Name calling is when people have nothing to say.

Send her back to Somalia.
