Thanks for the information about Real Player. We have been having problems and although I got rid of a bunch by getting rid of Weather Bug (NEVER INSTALL THAT MONSTER) I think I will uninstall Real Player. I don't use it much and maybe it will speed up my computer if I get rid of it.

We had trouble with "Weather Bug", too, until we uninstalled it. Perhaps a better name would be "Weather Termite" or "Weather Cockroach"!

Alternative to Real Player

Media Player Classic can play many RP files. It is a standalone media player and is freeware.

Download it, and unzip the single EXE in a directory of choice.

You can OPTION it to open some RP format files.

The latest version (6490) is available at:

Two versions exist: one for Win98me and one for Win2kXP

Two zipped versions are availabe: 7z (7zip) and zip


The zipped version is about 2.2 Meg. When unzipped, the single executable is about 5.8 Meg.
