Walking Tall

READ: Leviticus 26:3,12-16

I have broken the bands of your yoke and made you walk upright. —Leviticus 26:13

During my basic training in the Army, our drill sergeant worked hard week after week to transform us from a group of slouching civilians into a company of men who stood straight and walked tall. It was not an easy job. When he finally said, “You’re looking good!” we felt proud of who we were and how we had changed.

That experience came to mind when I read Leviticus 26:13, “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that you should not be their slaves; I have broken the bands of your yoke and made you walk upright.” After 400 years of slavery and hard labor, the people of Israel were burdened and discouraged. But under Moses, God led them out of bondage and put them on the road to a new life of freedom through obedience to Him.

It’s a vivid reminder of what God has done for us through Jesus Christ. Paul wrote: “Stand fast . . . in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage” (Galatians 5:1).

We don’t need to be bowed down with our sin. As we embrace the freedom of righteousness through faith in Jesus Christ, we can hold our heads high and keep walking tall. David C. McCasland

May I stand firm, O God of truth,
For all that pleases Thee;
Undaunted by the critic’s frown,
Let nothing hinder me.  —Bosch

There are no deadends on the road of obedience to God.

Hey dinasour, about to run out for work.
Since Pres and Laura are on with the PM/wife of Australia on the lawn at 9:05, will there be a press briefing today?

Morning, dinasour. I'm watching the President greeting John Howard on the White House lawn. It is nice to see this good friend of the United States being so honored.

All my sources, including Tony's last gaggle, indicate that there will be.

No information as to when. I wish they would announce the time more in advance.

> The Judge just said Tony's first briefing will be after they go off the air.

That would be consistant with the previous Press Briefings, which seemed to be between 12:00 and 1:00pm, usually near the bottom of the hour.

Fox had a split screen but, as usual, we don't get to see very much of it, unlike the case when the Chicom arrived. Oh well.

This thread just won't let me go!!!!!

Third request to get off the ping list.

I do not like the Brian & Judge show. Much too Air America for me. I gave it a try and refuse to listen to the Judge. If Brian gets a solo gig I will give it a try, but, for now, I have gone back to the Laura Ingraham show instead.

Please remove me from this ping.

Thanks!

Brian, please explain to the Judge that, by mining patterns today, we can possibly avoid another 9/11. The Constitution is not a suicide pact.

Seeking Middle Ground, Bush Moves Border

By Scott Ott, Editor-in-Chief, ScrappleFace.com
News Fairly Unbalanced. We Report. You Decipher.

(2006-05-13) — In an effort to find middle ground in the debate over illegal immigration, President George Bush followed last night’s nationally-televised speech with an announcement this morning that the U.S.-Mexican border would be moved up to Missouri.

Under the president’s plan, the new southern boundary of the United States roughly follows the path of Interstate 70, which in Missouri runs from Kansas City to St. Louis. The new line extends to the east through the middle of Washington D.C., and meets the Pacific coast just north of San Francisco.

An unnamed White House spokesman said the plan will relieve the pressure along the current 2,000 mile Mexican border by adding another thousand miles to it.

According to the source, “The president believes the new middle-ground border demonstrates that the United States can be a lawful society and a welcoming society at the same time.”

In an effort to calm conservative Republicans, the president also announced that the new boundary would be under constant satellite surveillance and that border patrol agents would receive enforcement assistance from a fleet of B-2 Stealth bombers out of Whiteman Air Force Base in Knob Noster, Missouri
