Of course Bush is doing some things right. But Bush and almost every politician in Washington are refusing to take this problem seriously.
There is some serious back-room politics in play here. It's very frustrating to see Bush try to play this crap off like we're all a bunch of drooling idiots.

How far back does this problem go, anyhow? Jimmuh? Tricky Dick? Or did it pop up when Gore conceded the second time?
Jorge Arbusto and the 300,000,000 others in this land are in the unenviable position of having an elephant in the living room that, if suddenly gone, its absence would prove devastating.
Some kind of phase-out amnesty is going to be the only face saving solution.

The President speaks about a fence, biometric id cards, troops on the border and you say that he's for OPEN borders? Give me a break!Empty words without funding and quick action - let's wait and see what gets done first - or at all. I'm not a betting man, but I'd put a years pay on the amnesty.

how long has this been going on. funny how so few nationally cared about this until they could b**** at bush for it...

>>>>>The President speaks about a fence, biometric id cards, troops on the border and you say that he's for OPEN borders? Give me a break! So after five years-four months as POTUS, you want everyone to start believing what Bush has to say on immigration? Give me a break. When Bush came into office the borders were wide open. Today, the borders are still wide open. And there are more illegal aliens crossing those open borders then ever before.

Well okay, they all sank themselves. Do I have proof yet? No. But I'm not seeing alot of enthusiasm for this group of Republicans. Many voters will just stay home. They can't afford anything but massive turnout. There was a HUGE opportunity for all Rep. to at least try to fix this, but they chose to offer lame half-measures.

Tonight, we just saw the end of the Republic in the rear view mirror.

no major terrorist attacks since 9/11, Bush's fault. he's doing something right.
No because then we would have to credit Clinton for doing nothing and there being no attacks from 1995-2001.

>"Care to substantiate that statement?"<
-The head of La Raza praised the President's speech on O'Reilly tonight. That troubles me, when a Marxist, Mexican flag waving organization praises what President Bush says.

He got the republicans in control of the House and Senate and they screwed it up. It is not his fault they turned out to be weak. We worked hard along with the President to get control and the Senate and they did nothing.

Farah's rebuttal doesn't seem at all "craven" to me.

If I were President I would say "Mexicans illegally here, I could kiss you all cordially... goodbye. You get 5 years to get out or get legit."

I think Joe is the first of many who will expose this shell game. Good for him......and those that will follow. The ship of state is taking on water and "W" can't seem to find a bucket to bail with. Damn shame!

So after decades of border incursions by illegals under Democrat and Republican administrations, you expect GWB to have the problem solved in six months. And if it's not done according to your timetable you are going to sit out the election? The Democrats must love you guys.

Anyone who claims to be intellectually honest could only come to the conclusion that this article is a devastating rebuttal to El Pre$idente'$ $ellout of America.

If he and the Rep. were REALLY serious about solving this, they could. I will agree that if his proposals actually happen, then it does help the situation.
How come there was no talk of holding US businesses accountable? How about a system that makes businesses check the SS numbers of employees. This could be implemented with little time and money. There are so many cost effective solutions to this problem, but there needs to be a willingness to do it. That's what really p's me off.
