[history]
I searched but did not see a thread already open for tonights speech. I think this is the most important speech the President will probably make for the remainder of his term.
Mod Note:
This could turn into a whack-a-troll thread. All immigration trolls that would like to participate should post here. It'll be interesting to see if we mods can whack the trolls faster than they can sign up new accounts.

Then the moderators should institute a coupon policy for members. Each member is alloted three "Bush-Bot" / "Bush-Hater" coupons per month. Any member that exceeds that limit of three calling of another member those things per month is banned from posting the next month. That would be nice. ;) heeheehee.

An American stating his political position against his President's political positions - is a "victim whining"?
Did your Gubermint Skool education indoctrinate you to follow orders without question....or to bend over and grab your ankles when ordered..
Forgive me for expecting more than a one sentence response...
I suspect that goes beyond your ability -- sort of like the "drive by media", huh?

You are defending an organization that is accusing one of our greatest presidents of being a member of a conspiracy to destroy this country. Are you really sure you want to go there?Nope...These people don't look at it as destroying the country...Their idea is that sovereign borders and sovereign countries were good in their day but are now antiquated...Theirs is a higher calling...
We are the sheeple...We don't really know what's good for us...They do...
If it interests you, you should check out what little is available on the G-8 group...Every once in a while you'll read about their 'summits' in the news...

How can you say we haven't tried? It's law, it's on the books, law enforcement knows it. Employers hire illegals. Illegals ignore the law. the Mexican government and military and police are beyond corrupt, and it's too big a problem for Border Patrol and the police to fix. It's like stupid people. You can't make stupid people smart if they are bound and determined to be stupid. You can't make illegal immigrants obey the law and pay taxes if they refuse to. You just have to round them up and kick them out and keep them out. But the border has to come first, and that was most of Bush's speach, but it needs more than what he said tonight, though it was a good start. Until the border is fixed, you can't tackle the illegals already in the country. It's like stacking marbles in the corner. It's a full time job, with lots of overtime, and not a stinking thing to show for it.

Neither Tancredo nor Dobbs think it's amnesty and in fact, based on some freeper posts and reports on various threads, they both liked the plan and the speech.
Are you sure? Here is what Tancredo's Press Release on his website said:

Tancredo Comments Ahead of Presidents Immigration Speech
WASHINGTON, D.C. Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO), Chairman of the 97-member House Immigration Reform Caucus, made the following statement ahead of the Presidents immigration speech tonight:
Sending National Guard troops to the border is a necessary stop gap measure to gain control of our borders. The government has chosen to limit the National Guard to a supporting role, but that will allow the Border Patrol to do its jobstopping illegal aliens from breaking our laws.
It appears that the Administration has begun to understand the breadth and depth of frustration with our open borders, and I welcome the Presidents support of increased enforcement. But if the President thinks by taking one step forward with enforcement the House will follow him two steps backwards with amnesty, hes confusing us with the Senate. The American people understand that blanket amnesty is not a pre-requisite for border security.
The Senates 12-million person amnesty the largest in Americas history would crush our background check system. It would dishonor legal immigrants who came here the right way. And, it would only encourage more illegal immigration. The President may say that the Senates plan isnt amnesty, but when you reward people with citizenship and you allow them to continue to work in the U.S. for the sole reason that they broke the law, what else can you call it?
A few weeks ago, the Administration announced a crackdown on illegal employers, arresting more than 1,100, nationwide. But by the next morning, more than half of those arrested were released. Public relations in lieu of enforcement wont fly with the American people. We will all be watching and waiting to see if the President follows through on his pledge to enforce the law.

A business that is addicted to illegal immigration is not a business worth saving.
Usually it is lazily run business that would rather hire the cheapest possible labor instead of improving productivity, imporving workplace, manufacturing, and agricultural technology as well as increasing workers skills and over time producing more with fewer employees - like Japan has been doing for over thirty years with dead miniscule immigration.
It is no wonder that their per-capita living standard is higher than ours and that they lead the world in manufacturing use of robotics, and robotics in general.

"But I've already been accused...accurately I suppose...of being defeatist. So I won't spin out another parade of the horribles."
Ah yes, defeatists.
"We can't possibly stop everyone from coming across the border."
"It would be too hard to build a fence and it wouldn't work anyway."
"We can't possibly send 12 million illegal aliens back home."
"We can't survive without illegal workers"
"We can't vote on principle."
Can't, can't, CAN'T!
This is America. What's building a stinking fence compared with putting a man on the moon? What's removing illegals from our Country compared to moving millions by force during WWII? Americans are the most productive, hardest working people on earth and we can't survive without the labor of illegal aliens?
BS!
How sad it is to see the defeatist take control of the party of the great optimist and believer in the American people, Ronald Reagan.
Mr. President, BUILD UP THAT WALL!

Well that's funny because my first few posts I said "speech", as is in the dictionary, and some mouthy gal jumped on me correcting me saying it was "speach", rather than engage me on the issues in the thread, so rather than get into it with her I typed it spelled "speech" to molify her. Can't win for losing here. :) I know it's "speech", the dictionary says it's "speech", as does spell check. But whoever that brilliant person was who corrected me, mostly because I wasn't ripping Bush's head off, clearly didn't. That's what I get for not just telling her to bug off and get a dictionary. :)

Unless you end the pull from "illegal" employers here, you can seal the border and they will just come by plane on a tourist visa and never leave.
The border is secondary to eliminating the domestic financial support line here for illegals. They will not stay if they cannot work.
