I searched but did not see a thread already open for tonights speech. I think this is the most important speech the President will probably make for the remainder of his term.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The hysterical "cut off my nose to spite my face" FReepers bring joy to the hearts of the DUmmies, the MSM, and Democratic politicians. I can just see Teddy Chappaquiddick raising his glass of Chivas to the screen as he reads the FReepers turning on the GOP.
Any FReeper who thinks that staying home in 2006 and letting the libs pick up some seats will "send a message" doesn't realize that the "message" they're sending is "we've forgotten the lesson of Bill Clinton."

Glad to see you weigh in. I believe that Bush's immigration policies and stubbornness severely weakens the GOP and will pave the way to a Democratic takeover of congress this novemeber.
This will have the immediate effect of wiping out our gains against the Islamists.
And he certainly didn't mention how he's going to round up the millions of illegals that work under the table and don't pay taxes, or the millions that don't work at all...
HUH? I don't THINK do. Nor do 75% of voting Americans. Have you not been paying attention to the polling? More than 2/3 of the public in every poll taken want the current laws enforced. Doing JUST THAT would be coming down a whole lot harder than this speechifying President is talking about. No, my friend, "We, The People" would NOT jump ship and vote Dem if "he comes down too hard". Much to the contrary, we'd stand to our collective feet and give a rousing, cheering ovation that could be heard in the halls of government in Mexico City.
Ibn point of fact, coming down hard would be THE ONE thing Bush could do to just about guarantee a GOP White House in 2008.
But he won't.

Yep. I for one am sick of what these slugs have done to Free Republic. You may be right but the perception is that FR has changed from a thoughtful site to a site of hot-heads with no political brains. That is sad because there are so many intelligent people at this site being shouted down by these blowhards.
I liked Bush's speech and thought his ideas were good and believe this will help guide what will be a long process to fix a 30 year old problem.
Bush is a diplomat. Calling Fox before the speech is a very savvy move

They died for all our freedoms, which includes the right to NOT vote. And I suspect it dishonors them more to vote for candidates who try to undermine what they died for.
