I searched but did not see a thread already open for tonights speech. I think this is the most important speech the President will probably make for the remainder of his term.
Mod Note:
This could turn into a whack-a-troll thread. All immigration trolls that would like to participate should post here. It'll be interesting to see if we mods can whack the trolls faster than they can sign up new accounts.

Yep. Election year politoco-speak. Bush won't change, our only hope is the House & a few in the Senate.
Don't worry, overall FR hasn't turned this way.. there are a lot of Trolls, Stormfronters, HSWs, and third party radicals who are playing up the opportunity...
Exactly, good post Starwise.
Thank you!!!
These isolationists tho, can't see beyond "amnesty", which this is not. That was their beloved Reagan's plan in the 80s.
Bush however, is a dreaded monster, don't ya know!!!
That's been disputed as myth, from what I've read.
Exactly. Americans might even learn to mow their own lawns again.
so they will just be laborers sucking up tax dollars...
Bush's speech, on the other hand, is entirely principled and has nothing to do with politics.
"No new amnesty" = "No new taxes"
If you do not vote, your opinion is worthless and you are an UN-AMERICAN waste who dishonors our troops.
That depends on the definition of "immigrant".
See (15) here. BTW, good luck with that.
"Only chance the republicans have in 08 is Rudy now."
I love Rudy, but he is no America firster either.
My understanding of the polls is that the President's popularity can be more than 100% negative, i.e. if he receives a negative from all of those polled PLUS or minus the potential margin of error of 4%. So you might have 104% negative.
Because of folks like me, many of who are Republicans, he can't deport everyone without losing us from his base. And he can't do nothing or he'll lose you guys from his base.
Now there's an honest answer...I'll give you credit for that...So what you're saying is that if George deports your cheap, illegal labor, you'll dump the party and go with whoever will allow you to illegally hire illegals...
Now we know you don't want them to be legal because you'd have to start paying attention to rules and regulations...And pay more...
But thanks for being an honest FReeper...
The New Colossus
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
You've been calling Freepers racists all night long.
Why?
Your numbers are wrong - the real numbers are in the mid to high 30s.
And btw, guest workers can't vote.
Southern blacks are religious too and they vote overwhelmingly for a pro-abortion party.
Agreeded. It makes sense to me. If these folks are here for 11 freakin years learn english and other requirementsand go through all that work and become citizens fine. At some points their original criminal act of crossing the border illegally is about as meaningful to me as someone at 30 year having a conviction for public intoxication when he was 18.
The phrase "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" was intended to exclude from automatic citizenship American-born persons whose allegiance to the United States was not complete. In the case of illegal aliens who are temporarily or unlawfully in the United States, because their native country has a claim of allegiance on the child, the completeness of the allegiance to the United States is impaired and logically precludes automatic citizenship.
