A plane carrying U.S. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy from western Massachusetts to his home on the coast was struck by lightning Saturday and had to be diverted to New Haven, Conn., his spokeswoman said.
The eight-seat Cessna Citation 550 plane lost all electrical power, including communications, and the pilot had to fly the plane manually, according to spokeswoman Melissa Wagoner. No one was hurt.

LOL! I live in MA and again I say that Kennedy poses no threat to junior Senator of NY. LOL! Kennedy and Kerry are the "Do you know who I am?" twins.

Oh, to have been a fly on the wall inside the plane when the lightning hit and the power went out. Which do you think it was? A barrage of curse words OR wailing to God to forgive his mountain of sins and transgressions and to save his humongous, gin-soaked a$$.
I say it was a little of both plus an anus puckered so tightly a nail couldn't have been driven in it with a 16 lb. sledge.
Jabba the Kennedy will likely be riding AmTrack for awhile.

An airplane by definition, when airborne, is not grounded! An electrical discharge from the earth to the sky or vice versa can transit an aircraft but aircraft manufacturer's have put devices into place to deal with the electricity that flows.
TWA flight 800 was struck by lightning while on approach to Athens and nothing happened but "supposedly" an elctrical spark in the center fuel tank brought the B-747 down!! Go Figger!

Why is it RFK Jr pontificates on the evils of global warming, but he a Theodore have no problems driving SUVs and flying on private jets themselves? Oh, I forgot. "Do as I say, not as I do." Those rules are for the 'little people'.

Good question. This was a small eight-seat aircraft and does not sound like a commercial flight. Makes one wonder about the transportation arrangements.
