Well Surprise surprise. Newt. Doubtlessly doing his McCain impression about how the Republicans are "betraying Conservatives". No they are not. It is stupid for the Perpetual Whiners to be screaming because the Bush glass is only 60% full of Conservative values. It is always that way. Better a glass 60% full of Conservative Values then one 100% full of Leftist political poison.

The same Talking heads and pseudo Conservative pundits like George Wills did the same thing to Reagan. They squealed during the late 1980s about how he was "Selling out the Conservative base" because he was talking to the Commies, signed 2 tax hikes and a REAL Illegal Alien Amnesty.

No on gets 100% of what they want out of life. Adults realize this. Spoiled Brat Children throw temper tantrums about it. Life, especially in politics, requires compromise. You merely get the most you can and make the best you can with it.

On Taxcuts, Judges, actually waging a war on terror, reduction in Fed regulatory burdens, bringing up the Illegals issue, attempting real Social Security reform, 1st serious Medicare reforms and dozens of other issues, President Bush has done far MORE to advance the Conservative agenda then all the Talking Head hysteric Whiners like Savage, Wills, Hannity etc combined will EVER do.

Life is not perfect children, learn to live with it.

Amen to that. I have many reservations about my leader David Cameron but as dad says without power you can do nothing.

If it means sacrificing a few pet issues to get power I would gratefully go for that after 9 years of socialist government.

Good to hear form you MNJ.

This maybe one of the most important posts for Freepers and all good conservatives to digest.

MNJ's 60% theory is and should be echoed everywhere since it is the secret to not driving yourself crazy over not getting every issue we want.

As MNJ says "life, especially in politics requires compromise, and he is absolutely right. Important post here.

Well said Johnnie, it is what drives us supporters crazy. The continual superiority of the walk on water Conservatives. Most would rather criticize than roll up their sleves and do something about an issue.

Pray for W and Our Troops

I hate some of Russert's tactics, especially the putting up of New York Times quotes as though they were the Gospel of Times.

But it was pretty funny when he skewered Newt with about 5 contradictory quotes about the war.

Newt recovered pretty well, partly because he can talk faster than any human except Chris Matthews.

Basically, his possition was : right to gointo Iraq, Saddam was genuine danger, war was perfectly executed but the aftermath was a disaster for which he blamed Brennan for trying to push American style democracy. He praised the guy in Afghanistan for doing a much better job.
