They either sign up and follow the (new) rules or they are automatically deported if caught

We have laws on the books that cover that now. Do we have the ability to enforce it? Not today. Are we willing to create the massive bureaucracy necessary to do it? I doubt it. Any attempt to have widescale deportations would invite reactions from the ACLU, La Raza, the Catholic church, the Dems, and the illegals who will demonstrate in even greater numbers. We will have a backlog of court cases.

Now the problem is .. enforcing the laws on a Local/City/State level .. because the Feds can't enforce the laws all on their own if the local level will not help

And who is going to pay for the costs associated with the enforcement? I agree we need such cooperation now instead of sanctuary cities. We have laws now that govern the treatment of illegal aliens. We really don't need new ones except to legalize the illegals. Problem solved--on paper.

Dr.Rice should speak at more college campuses!

Dr. Rice has more class, grace and intelligence in her pinky fingernail, than all of liberal academia put together. Yes, I am a Condi-bot..

It's not the internet, blogs or talk radio that needs to turn down the rhetoric. The problem is with radical leftists and Democrats who are damaging our country with leaks, lies and misleading charges.

The Dem Party is too far left to find a compromise

The Dem party of my parents generation now longer exist

When Dem leaders speak at rallies sponsored by the likes of A.N.S.W.E.R. ... you know they as a party have gone over the edge

Even though I would not benefit from it (due to age) I think the President's SS Plan was a great plan and it's a shame we had too many RINO's to get it a decent hearing. I wish we'd had a plan like this all along, I would much rather have control over my FICA than the government.

Just all those polls during Klinton's impeachment that told us how high his ratings were. I never believed it, I thought those polls were more phony than turkey-baloney. But it might just have given the MSM the idea that polls could be used as news because since then, every day there are several. I have had it.

Maybe a bit off topic but does anyone else think this floated of idea of Prez Bush adding NG troops to the border is a bluff to SW state guvs re: illegal immigation. Should shut up Napolitano and put her on the spot. Correct or Incorrect?

It got the desired result out of Bill Richardson: The pig is squealing like, well, a pig.

And who is going to pay for the costs associated with the enforcement?

By disallowing illegals all but emergency services, millions could be made up for enforcement. Illegals show up at hospitals for colds and leave the institution with the bills. That could be one way..

I have no problem with a reasonable mix of immigrants, especially highly skilled or particularly motivated people.

I think a lot of immigration from SA is inevitable, and a large portion of them are as conservative or more so, than your average American.

They know what hard work is, what a blessing it is to be in the USA, and how much better it is than their homeland.

I have not met a single immigrant that wants to turn the US into Mexico. They want to preserve their connection to their heritage, but they sure don't want change us into what they left.

Nothing more than a business decision, I think. Murdock donated to Gore too. Fox is in NY & GOP is going to lose Governorship. So, they are making peace. Murdock was on Cavuto and strongly supporting Bush's policies saying good things about economy, security. etc.

Remember earlier on some conservatives calling donations to Dean during 2004?

His speech was my first exposure to him, and I was surprised he sounded so wild.

"Newt is now asking us to drink the Koolaid. If he thinks that we can get 12 to 20 million people to go home and then come back, including setting up the massive bureaucracy to administer such a system, he is nuts"

You must understand this. A large number of these illegals have financial investments in this country and deportation would result in great economic loss.

If a few thousand illegals were to be deported, these invested illegals would take note and do whatever necessary to protect their investments.

Another thing, contrary to the spun information, most of the illegals are NOT low wage workers nor are they being paid less than the min. wage. At least not in Arizona.

Arizona has very close to ZERO unemployment. The girl that takes your order at MickeyD's makes $9-10/hour and cannot speak english at all. She knows which sounds match the keyboard on the computer. (well, it is almost that bad)!

The MSM is going all-out to to turn Americans against the NSA numbers-monitoring. They've called it domestic-spying, eavesdropping, unconstitutional... since the NYSlimes leaked it months ago. They are totally within character to alter articles/polls in order to claim there's a nationwide furor... THAT DOESN'T EXIST.

We will have a backlog of court cases.

Agreed

Without the help on the local/state level .. this mess will never be fixed

As for the sanctuary cities?? .. if they want to aid the illegals .. then cut off fed funding for health care/welfare/ etc. and let those cities/states pay for it

Napolitano screams about things to make the news and then with our GOP Senate gives her what she asks for she vetoes it.. she is a prime example of talking out of both sides of your mouth.

If the President does say he's sending NG to the borders it will put her on the spot once and for all and will be interesting to watch.

I agree with that... since the RATs charge vote fraud in Florida, it's a sure bet that that's what THEY would do/actually do.

It got the desired result out of Bill Richardson: The pig is squealing like, well, a pig.

Remember when Kim Jong Il would only talk to Richardson a few years back? All of the news coverage out of Santa Fe, touting Richardson has the diplomat who "would ease the crisis"? And when it was over, Bill was just a Governor again. Billy never got over all the National Media leaving New Mexico..
