Actually, Romney-Allen or Allen-Romney would make a fine ticket.Allen-Romney.

All the Republicans have to do to beat Hillary is release her Health Care package.
Even the democrats slammed it for being fascist. It was voted down instantly by everyone!
Release it, and let the people decide. She'll take the rest of her party down with her.

And thats after five years of very careful and very good PR. When she gets out on the circuit where they can't control her screeching - that 38% will disappear too

If Bill Clinton could run again in 2008, he would win in a landslide. If that were to happen it would prove that we are undeserving of nationhood. 9/11 forgotten. No Chinese stolen nuke plans. It would be Australia for me. At least there the weather is great, the beer is fantastic, and the women are promiscuous without the overt feminazi traits.

After amnesty a large % of the population won't be able to read her plan or anything else. Amnesty is the beast's ticket back to the White House.

The only Republicans I see with active presidential ambitions populate the pompous Senate and pontificate primarily for self-gratification. Few if any Senators actually could run the country with even minimal competency. Voters tend to reject legislative personalities for good reason; John F. Kerry's flip-flopping best exemplifies Senatorial decisiveness and leadership. The overwhelming majority of Senate Republicans, moreover, belong to the RINO caucus and concede far too readily to any Democratic spinster. As Bush so often tells us, the President must make tough decisions constantly, not dither endlessly blabbering nonsense until his opponent falls asleep.

"Not saying that couldn't happen again... Because nothing astounds me more than how well the Republicans can screw their own base, and indeed, mainstream America."
Absolutely! If they expect to keep control of the house and senate THIS year, never mind the White House in 08, they had better unite the party, start insisting the Republicans in Washington start towing the party line
They could mow right over the weeds that have scattered throughout congress, no problem. Start acting like the majority! and in plain English, (not spanish) "Get 'er DONE" On all fronts.

The only reason anybody would want to go back to the 90s is for the economy, and today's economy is stronger than the 90s. The perception of a strong economy is not there. A lot of voters in their 30s and 40s will only see high gas prices and a country mired in a seemingly endless war. These voters will remember fondly the 1990s when opportunity appeared boundless.
Hillary is despised, and, if she's fooling nobody now, she won't be able to fool anybody then.
On Free Republic, certainly. Outside of this blessed forum, Hillary has strategically positioned herself as a centrist in the eyes of many voters. It would be best not to delude ourselves. The Clintons are excellent opportunists.
She's not much of a speaker. Have you noticed that?
She needn't say a word. Her husband will do all the talking.

Whats not being said is Hillary is dragging BUBBA back into the White House.. Those that hate HER, don't hate BUBBA.. And will vote for her just because of that.. Women(mostly) however will vote for her just because shes a woman.. .i.e.. Oprah and the Harpocrites..
OH! and the illegal and legal aliens will vote for her because shes a socialist.. You know the ones that Bush will legalize.. and also the ones he misses.. Its easy to get registered to vote in most places.. And by the way ALL illegal and legal aliens WILL BE DEMOCRATS..

She needn't say a word. Her husband will do all the talking. Which would only point out her incompetence. I don't think she has a chance. In fact, I'm one of those who isn't convinced that Hillary will be the nominee.

John Podhoretz has written a book about how afraid we need to be of Hillary, but I'm not convinced. Every republican hates her like poison, and the far left doesn't like her either. I think Sullivan has it right on this one.

"I predict the nomination will fall to either Romney or Allen, the nominee being the personage the base will be the least uncomfortable with "
and skip the Romney part, he will freak some out for the medical insurance plan. Allen is way behind McInsane in the polls, but I see McCaine crashing and burning in a big way. Allen is about the only comfortable show out there.
To: dufekin
Um, several governors are running. At least one mayor. Senators too, not least McCain. Ambition springs eternal. Nobody cares whether the job is thankless, they don't want it because they want to be thanked. They want power to accomplish their goals and implement their preferred policies.
Whining about being unappreciated would be silly in a leader of the free world who has twice been entrusted with the highest responsibilities by the most powerful nation on earth. It is not much more attractive in supporters of same.

Comfortable to freepers maybe, nobody else in the country has any idea who he is. Romney is a better TV presence by most accounts. McCain is the front-runner. If he blows up, which is perfectly possible and perhaps even likely once he reaches the southern primaries, any of the others has a shot. The fastest way to stop McCain is for someone else to beat him in New Hampshire. Right now, I don't see that happening.
