Code for amnesty.
If Bush wants to score points on Monday night he should leave out the Amnesty dribble. But he won't because he just can't help himself. He should know by now Americans clearly are not interested in amnesty.
"virtual" fence= "virtual" border control.
As opposed to ACTUAL border control.
there wasn't any law preventing the Irish from emigrating to the U.S.
More importantly, the Irish spoke English, we had plenty of room for them at the time, and since there was no Welfare state adding population didn't create a burden on legal-resident taxpayers.
What law did the Irish violate?
I can relate to that, mine has been drifting upwards ever since Frist caved in to Reid. Do these people have no Honor?
Suspend immigration, (ALL) for 8 years. Watch RATS walking around mumbling to themselves from now till Nov. and beyond.
The only way these criminals should be allowed to "get in line for U.S. citizenship" is to GO THE HELL BACK HOME, get in line at the US Embassy IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY, and not be allowed back into the US until their turn comes around. ANY other approach that "allows a path to citizenship" while still remaining in the USA is simply AMNESTY.
You can tell it's an election year. "He'll talk...". Yep, he'll talk and talk and talk and nothing will get done. Just like the last five years.
Beam those Tribbles back to the Klingons Scotty. Or Nuevo Laredo, whichever is easier. (:^D)
All he really needs to say is that the borders will be defended and the laws will be enforced. The rest is just eyewash.
1. Why do you ask?
2. "The Irish" can't have collectively violated any law at all. Only individuals violate laws, not groups (unless, perhaps, the membership of the group is defined by law breaking--as is the case for the group commonly known as "illegal aliens.")
Sad but true. I am utterly disdainful of the way that Bush has handled this issue. Tenacity is a fine trait, however pigheadedness when you are wrong is a fault.
Leave it out? Like he is choosing from a Chinese menu? That is what he believes. This is an insulting ploy to shut up the conservatives, as well as a vast majority of the rest of the citizenry.
A virtual fence is only good for virtual illegal aliens. This is the same old dog and pony show.
Excellent point! Illegals are not in line, and have no right to be here and in fact by being here illegally even if they have citizen children(anchor babies) by law they are supposed to forfeit their "right" to immigrate as an immediate relative (IR)
Any guest workers visas should go to those who have not broken our laws and not to those that have!
Instead President Bush and our Roman Senators want to create a new "legalization" for people who clearly violated many laws. Talk about stuck on stupid!
Will someone please tell me how this will benefit our citizens and taxpayers? How will it help stop future illegal entries? Does anyone inside the beltway know what happened in 1986? History has already doomed this plan, its like DC knows the Titanic will sink and they are buying tickets on it. What sane conservative wants to help bring 30 or 40 million social services using future democrats into the USA? They are lighting the fuse on a time bomb and holding their hands to their ears as if they can't hear it it won't hurt.
Slaves were too valuable to be used in building the C&O Canal in MD. They used Irish because they were expendable.
Those who died were scratched off and others "hired". There were no immigration requirements to meet at the time; Europe was off loading its excess as well as its trash.
At least they weren't on the dole created by politicians digging into the pocketbooks of others.
