"Soon, Bush and the Republicans will stake out the right side of the immigration debate, and the Dems will be sinking fast. Rove hasn't lost his touch, timing is everything. Have patience grasshoppers...I am going to love watching the MSM having to report the "stunning comeback" of GWB."

DEAR LORD, I HOPE YOUR PREDICTION IS RIGHT!

Cause from where I'm sitting, I can't see it happening.

Excellent post and dead on correct!

With that said I firmly believe our base is already starting to come back together and by Nov we will be mostly united (to the dismay of the MSM).

We have a d*mn fine POTUS/CIC. A man of tremendous character who has a quiet and steadfast resolve about him. Traits that are sorely lacking in most men today.

All you have to do is live in a southern state and then watch the protesters carrying Mexican flags in your cities and towns to wonder if one day you are going to lose everything to them one day.

If you won't defend your own borders eventually you lose them.

It isn't all that complicated.

Good post and the issue is not just with Bush but rather the state of the Republican party.

If that's the case, your reading comprehension is Pi$$ Poor.

Here, here's some motivation: Let's send the Rats back to their shrinks '06!

You must admit that was hysterical and worth it alone.

I can't see it happening either.

The Senate had it's chance to follow the House lead and failed completely. It will be interesting to see if the GOP senate fails Brent Kaveaugh too.

Thank you! I've stayed away from other political boards and generally have been away from this one a lot more than I used to. I just don't like unhappy sites.

If that is you we can't afford to lose you.

That is so nice of you! But this is written by the blogger known as The Anchoress - I always find her posts exceptionally thoughtful and provocative.

I agree with much of what she has written here, but I personally have no desire to be "off politics."

this thread isn't about immigration

I cite from the article:

...I just have to ask all of you people - on every side - who have decided that immigration is one man’s burden, and that every good thing President Bush has done is to be negated because he hasn’t snapped his fingers and done what YOU think is the solution to the immigration problem…what did Clinton do about immigration, what did Bush 41 do? What did St. Reagan do? What did Carter do? What has any president, congressperson or senator done about immigration for the last 30 years, except kick the issue down the road for someone else to deal with? ...

And now, immigration…one man is to blame, one man is at fault, one man must find the Solomonic solution. And if he doesn’t, he’s a bum no matter what else he’s done. Meanwhile, the press can’t get over the president who smiled and cried his way through two terms, and they still work on his legacy. Can you ever recall a time in history where 6 years after an administration ends, the ex-president is still breathlessly being polled-on, still being given (on most days) as much press as the current president? I can’t. ...

"But as I put the subject away, I just have to ask all of you people - on every side - who have decided that immigration is one man’s burden, and that every good thing President Bush has done is to be negated because he hasn’t snapped his fingers and done what YOU think is the solution to the immigration problem…"

Failure to keep an oath to protect the country from ALL aggressors, foreign and domestic is treasonous.

For whatever political reason, for big business or for some Neo Con whimsical virtue of spreading democracy, there is no defense and no rational explanation for letting our borders unprotected and allowing 20 million unknowns into this country, especially Post 911. More time, blood and treasure has been spent on protecting the borders of foreign governments than our own.

There is no ration explanation for ignoring this problem in light of of all the declarations to be vigilant that have been uttered to the contrary. I can only guess of two; stupidity or treason!

General, I think the point was, even if you are right, cheap talk turns into rhetoric.

"I can’t be the only one who is feeling increasingly ill - not ill-at-ease, but physically ill - when looking at it. "

No this writer is NOT the only one! I turned the news off 3 days ago. I am starting to hate Democrats so much that I am not myself these days. I want to tear my teeth out, I want to sit down and cry. I cannot believe that at this time, when we are at war with the most dangerous enemy we have ever had, the Democrats are too busy hating Bush and playing politics to act with even a modicum of responsibility about the war on terror. I hate the Democrats, I am sorry God, but I hate them. And the GOP, stumbling around like a bunch of morons. What a bunch of losers. The evil party vs the stupid party. America deserves better than this crap. But the Democrats (hock... spit) are the worst.

Actually, you don't have to live in a southern state. My Westchester, New York home town is teeming with illegals.

But the virtue of the Anchoress’s post is to remind us that this crisis was a long time in the making, and also to point out the practical fact that politically lynching George Bush will get us farther from, not closer to the policies we want — on every issue.

Good to hear you have no desire to be off politics. If you did, you might be unemployed!!!

Unless, if you are, who I think you are, the union would protect your job.

Some one has to make sure Bo Snerdley has his union card, if he screens calls again!!!!

Oops, BTW, great article!!!!
