It's a 'reach-out' to the 80% of America that wants closed borders, good enforcement of current laws and no amnesty to tell us that we are part of nafta and need to keep those borders open to make sure the economy stays strong, our current laws are being enforced and that there are people doing work no American' wants to do ....

Show of hands, how many believe President Bush will say anything new or different than he has been saying for the last year (several years)?

He has a commitment to the amnesty, er 'guest-worker' program, please see http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2001/09/20010905-11.html

Bush: "My fellow Mexicans, we will be annexing central america all the way down to the Panama canal (and taking that back as well). We will exempt this property from the ACLU, PETA and the EPA. Consider your oil and mineral rights a down payment on our previous services rendered. Goodnight."

language used by people who guide their lives by political emotion.

God forbid Americans use emotion when considering the fate of their country. An emotion like "love" of country comes to my mind when I see what's happening to it.

Dane, you should find that emotion and stop with the robotic "kneejerk" word you use in every third post. It's getting old and silly.

Actually...he wasn't far off.... first they went to Messssico, then on to the Far East.

My question to you is simple: If the "government" can't track all the illegal aliens (whether they are visa violators or invasion forces) currently in our country, how will it track a new "guest worker" program? Would you agree with me that everyone here illegally is obliged under penalty of law to return to their native countries and apply for legal entry to our country? Regards . . . Penny

"They are undocumented workers doing the jobs americans refuse to do...they carry the US flag proudly and long to make english their first language, they embrace our history and our forefathers and wish to build on that legacy......that is why I support the houseguest worker program." - Bush 2006

I've been thinking about that. Mexicans are like Keebler elves, "doing jobs Americans won't do" baking cookies at night. :)

I will be glued to the TV, hope it's good news.

Me too. I have already started calling people who have been calling me lately to complain about illegal immigration and the R's. not doing anything about it. I told them to rest easy, Pres. Bush will be speaking to them on Monday night. I hope it is good news!

President Bush:
I believe that a person should never be granted automatic citizenship. And let me tell you why I believe that, that if you've been here -- broken the law and have been here working, that it doesn't seem fair to me to say you're automatically a citizen when somebody who has been here legally working is standing in line trying to become a citizen, as well. In other words, there's the line for people. (Applause.)

But what I do think makes sense is that a person ought to be allowed to get in line. In other words, pay a penalty for being here illegally, commit him or herself to learn English, which is part of the American system -- (applause) -- and get in the back of the line. In other words, there is a -- there is a line of people waiting to become legal through the green card process. And it's by nationality. And if you're a citizen here who has been here illegally, you pay a penalty, you learn English, and you get in line, but at the back -- not the front. And if Congress wants a shorter line for a particular nationality, they increase the number of green cards. If they want a longer line, they shrink the number of green cards per nationality

And this is weeks old

I second that.
-----
IMHO, he will do ANYTHING BUT close the border -- we will hear the standard weasel-words like "enforce","increase the border patrol","high tech solutions"....ANYTHING BUT actually building the wall/fence that is needed. He will pander to Vincente and his personal NWO agenda.

The ONLY solution for America is first and foremost -- CLOSE THE BORDER. PERIOD.

After listening to his stooge, Frist, this week, I would bet it all on it...

Let me guess: "We should welcome them. There's too many to kick out, so we'll make them jump through a small hoop to get citizenship, pay a small fine, and incite others to sneak over the borders as well. Vote Republican!"

He will say something to please everyone, but no one will be satisfied. Exercise in futility.

I'll listen to what he has to say. I will be expecting leadership not rhetoric.

I was thinking more about entry level jobs in the blue-collar trades... but then again you already know that.

You're pitiful arguments here on FR have been thoroughly debunked time and time again.
