Thinking of Throwing a Tantrum in November?
Shameless Vanity | 5-11-06 | Burr5

Posted on 05/11/2006 8:25:42 PM PDT by Burr5

There has been a rising tide of opinion expressed these last few days on Talk Radio regarding the impulse to vote against Republicans in the upcoming congressional election in order to punish them for their whorish pandering to illegal aliens, their fiscal irresponsibility, and their general disregard of the demands of the conservative base. I have heard echoes of this on Rush Limbaugh, Mike Gallagher, Laura Ingraham, Glenn Beck and Bill O'Rielly.

We should be worried about this attitude. Especially those of us who remember 1992. In George H.W. Bush's second presidential attempt, a conservative rebellion (over tax policy) and the insurgent candidacy of a purported "economic conservative" (Ross Perot), resulted in the election of the most venal, irresponsible, demogogic criminal in the history of American politics. 43% of the electorate was enough to give us eight years of Clinton.

So would sitting this one out, or voting for a Libertarian get us closer to where we want to be? Everyone realizes that a conservative temper tantrum at the polls will only serve to grant power to the Democrats. Would this "teach the Republicans a lesson"?

Perhaps. But where would we be then? We are at war. The Democrats believe the war is Bush's fault. 9-11 was an aberation. It will not happen again even if we don't listen in on Al-Qaeda's phone conversations. We will be safe if we pull out of Iraq. There will NEVER be a justification for bombing Iran's nuclear facilities. There will be no more war for oil, and yet the Caribou in ANWR will still be safe from the predations of Exxon-Mobil.

Domestically, we can expect the likes of Charles Rangle and Ron "Red" Dellums to hold the reins of power in the House of Representatives. The Bush economy will not be destroyed; things will simply become more "fair" for women and minorities.

And, of course, the great gains we are making in the corrupt, tyrannical judiciary will come to a screeching halt. If you're alright with the "right" of irresponsible young women to hire doctors to shove a metal implement into the skull of their partially born babies, and to have them crack open the skulll, vacuum out the brain matter as the tiny arms silently flap around, and then throw the corpse into the trash, then the make-up of congress may not be of much importance to you when the next confirmation hearing comes around. Chairman Leahy- Say no more.

Politics is a TEAM SPORT, ladies and gentlemen, and one does not express one's dissatisfaction with the team's effort by aiding the opposing team.

Do not let the party of treason, greed, corruption, infanticide, demogougerey, hypocricy and judicial tyranny gain power.

It could take another forty years to get it back.

I remember this card was pulled in 94, wasn't it Peter Jennings calling the takeover of the House a temper tantrum? Just words designed to keep us all down on the conservative plantation. There is no difference between the parties, they govern identically. O I forgot, one party gives us tax cuts, the other tax raises. The beat goes on and on and on and on.

But also remember that the Republicans pretty much had a solid control over the house and senate. They had the guts to actually challenge Bill over things.

Immigration became a problem in 1999 when Clintoon started to loosen the border patrol.

In March, illegal immigration was an issue for 4% of the population as a whole. Now its around 15-16% for the country.

12 Million plus illegals didnt get here in the last 6 years. This has been a problem for decades and only other president that has dealt with this volatile issue was a conservative president, Pres Reagan and President Bush gets treated like crap for wanting to find a sensible solution to this problem?

All of a sudden, the President is to blame for everything and we are supposed to solve this problem overnight...

Are people that clueless??

Very true. The primary is where REAL party building takes place, and direction is decided. Apparently many people in Washington missed the message. Then again, we have a case like Arlen Specter. Everyone knew he was a liberal and the establishment supported him anyway over the real conservative in the primary. I think that's a case study in playing politics over principle.

Exactly what worthless Republicans want you to think. It's true of course, but all they have to do is grow a pair.

I dont remember FR having this many people acting like little children because their version of what needs to be done to solve the illegal problem isnt done today or tomorrow.

Funny...the thread topic is about someone giving a "online finger waggin" to people who are angry. Yet, our replys are the reason for your "little children" remark?

Question for you: Do you prefer a closed border (I want that too) with 'pay taxes and for your own healthcare and register and get at the back of the line' "amnesty", or do you prefer closed borders and courts filled with illegals getting their day in court on thier way out of the country, with $3.50 heads of lettuce, $15.00 chicken parts, carrots at $.50 a piece, $8.00 Whopper and $4.00 fries, etc.?

And proof of your comment?

Think in the 90s under Clinton, the country was being sold piecemeal to China, military secrets and all.

We did not get in this position over the past six years, nor did the President create the illegal problems, or the oil problems. Yet he is expected to wave a magic wand over the country and make it all in the conservative image.

You're exactly right. This is a problem that has existed for years and years. The Libs -- in government and in media -- are exacerbating it to drive a wedge through conservatives, to scatter the vote. It's completely obvious this is a Dem 2006 strategy, and why more FReepers don't realize that isn't just a shame, it's a crime.

No that's crap. I work to support this country and I expect the government to enforce the laws in place. I shouldn't have to get in a jeep and patrol the damn border. The mere fact that the Minutemen even have to exist is a damning indictment of our government and the enforcement (OR LACK THEREOF) of our laws. And one more thing: Immigration will determine these elections, watch and see.

You think Bush's plan is best?

Do you realise what Amnesty without a secure border will do? There's going to be a HUGE flood between now and the time the borders are secure.

You people don't realise that these people are BIG on protests and unlike the average American they pull HUGE turnouts to vote and they do NOT vote republican.

As much as I like him, Bush is NOT doing this for the "good of our country" he has been accused of being too loyal...well consider this loyalty to Vincente Fox.

Don't forget that if the Republicans lose the majority, amnesty WILL get passed!!!

So tell me what the difference is!

Immigration is a ridiculous thing to determine the elections on. What US Gov in our liftimes was serious about border control?

THere are between 11 and 20 million ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS here in our country. When would you like to start looking into the problem? After 40 or 50 million are here? Looks like we are basing elections on this because time has finally caught up to the issue
