NICE, France — At least 21 people have gone from France to Iraq to join the anti-coalition fighters since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003, national police said Thursday.

National Police Chief Michel Gaudin told The Associated Press that nine of them had been killed, and 10 were believed to be alive and still in Iraq.

Five of those killed were French citizens, while the other four had traveled to Iraq from France. "We are working with international authorities to determine their identities," Gaudin said.

Two more French people were in custody after having been detained by coalition forces operating in Iraq, a national police spokesman said.

More than that left their homes in Britain to fight against our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Do they all really buy in to the virgin thing? Or do they really hate us including Dana Priest?

All of western Europe is like that. Berlusconi in Italy gave quite a few million to terrorists in Iraq for the ransoms of socialist, anti-American, Italian women, who previously lived with the terrorists in Iraq.

Hopefully our boys will put one between their ears before they have a chance to surrender.

Yes, and IIRC Germany has done the same.

"At least 21 people have gone from France to Iraq"

The article is not clear whether they went to surrender or to fight. I suspect that they are part of the early-surrender-brigade that detects a threat and then rushes to surrender to beat the rush.

It is like having the honor of being the first kid on your block to get in a POW camp and get the best bunks.

Heh, that's a rather high loss rate, about like us losing 85,000 troops in Iraq.

They can send all of these idiots they can find. Kill'em where you find 'em, and if they want to come to where our professionals await, that's OK by me.

More proof the policy is working. We are drawing off the scum of the earth and killing them in Iraq. You can imagine what "activities" these 21 would be getting into if they stayed in France.

Nine out of 21 killed should send a message to other would-be "foreign fighters."

25% Death rate is difficult to sustain, I wonder how many of the living are wounded.

Doesn't mean the 21 were born in France of non Muslim families at all.
I am no fan of the French, but would bet 19 or more had Muslim connections far more than French born ones.

They were probably inspired by the Iraqi soldiers who kept trying to surrender to the US Army before we had even started the attack.

"but would bet 19 or more had Muslim connections"

It would be interesting to know anymore what being a "Frenchman" really means. This article seems to hint that some of these "fighters" only used France as a jumping off point in their journey. We could make all sorts of speculation here but the fact is that France is getting a pretty high percent of Muslims in the population. What worries me is that terrorist maybe able to use France as a staging area for Jihad because the government there doesn't care.
