Inside that excellent link you provided:

Since President Bush took office, agents have apprehended and sent home more than 6 million people entering the country illegally - including more than 400,000 with criminal records.

Federal, State, local, and tribal law enforcement are working together. More than 600,000 illegal immigrants were apprehended through the Arizona Border Control Initiative last year - an increase of more than 50 percent over the previous year. The men and women of our Border Patrol have made good progress - but we have much more work ahead, and we will not be satisfied until our agents have full control of our border.

Also from the link.

Granting amnesty would be unfair because it would allow those who break the law to jump ahead of people who play by the rules and wait in the citizenship line. Amnesty would also encourage future waves of illegal immigration, increase pressure on the border, and make it more difficult for law enforcement to focus on those who mean us harm. For the sake of justice and the sake of border security, the President firmly opposes amnesty.

Since President Bush took office, funding for border security has increased by 66 percent. The Border Patrol has been expanded to more than 12,000 agents, an increase of more than 2,700 agents, or nearly 30 percent. The President's FY07 budget funds another 1,500 new agents. Agents are being provided with cutting-edge technology like infrared cameras, advanced motion sensors, and unmanned aerial vehicles. Protective infrastructure, such as vehicle barriers and fencing in urban areas, is being installed. Manpower, technology, and infrastructure are being integrated in more coordinated ways than ever before.
Last year, it took an average of 66 days to process a non-Mexican illegal immigrant. Now, the process is taking only 21 days. This has helped us end "catch-and-release" for illegal immigrants from Brazil, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua caught crossing our Southwest border. Since last summer, the total number of non-Mexican illegal immigrants released into society has been cut by more than a third. There is more work ahead, and the Administration will work with Congress to close loopholes that make it difficult to process illegal immigrants from certain countries and will continue pressing foreign governments like China to take back their citizens who enter our country illegally.

Repeat as often as needed...

With another 10 million illegals here, it would appear he isn't doing such a good job of protecting us from the invaders. How many companies has he prosecuted for hiring the illegal invaders? How many contributions have the various parties received from the companies that hire the illegal invaders? Our system of bribes has gotten so far our of hand that most politicians take the money and look away from the illegal invasion without once considering that they may be committing treason by selling their country.

You and I quote from the same section of the White House document. But while you see progress, I see failure. 600,000 captured but how many got through? You can apprehend 600,000, which admitedly is a large number, but for how many is this their second, third or fourth time caught? The actual number of unique individuals may be a lot less. Reminds me of our VC KIA in Vietnam -- we kept hitting the same bunker over and over again and reported new success in dispatching the enemy. But how many were just guestimates since we had no way of knowing how many we actually killed and pressure was always there to up the body count. I suspect this is the same here: to puff up the BP success to get more money and to deflect from the policy failure. No, the only thing that will stop them from coming across is a secure barrier, not a virtual one.

For the most part, not blaming the Border Patrol, but the alleged reporting of Minuteman activities to Mexicao has yet to be explained. Bottom line: not nearly good enough. Millions are still pouring in yearly. So much more needs to be done, starting now, and no amnesty.

Peach,

There certainly is a lot more work to be done, they've barely made a dent yet but some aren't satisfied with any progress. They seem to think a 2,000 ft wall can be built overnight, regardless of the length and terrain, rattlesnakes. tarantulas, scorpions etc., etc., and that 12 million illegal aliens can be rounded up like cattle and transported back over the border with the click of a finger.

Either an insane asylum has been given the link to this forum or these idiots still believe in the tooth fairy.

I for one am very tired and disgusted the way they disrespect the position and the man who was elected POTUS. It makes me wonder the way some of them post if they respect themselves or even know the meaning of respect.

This I suppose is what 8 years of Clinton and his loose morals in the WH has taught them. They no longer recognize a gentleman when they see one.

You don't understand, the number of apprehended or deported is meaningless without a secured border. Those deported are back within hours or days. It is a joke, just not a very funny one. The number that should worry everyone is the number of illegals that are not apprehended.

I like the president. He seems to always be pushing himself to be a better man. I believe he cares deeply about the roles and responsibility of his job and does not take it lightly. That said, I do wish he would address his critics more. I know his tenure has been tough but he should see it as an opportunity to show even greater courage and leadership (we could always use more).
