Hard Core Republicans Are Fleeing President
The Washington Post ^ | May 11, 2006 | JIm VandeHei and Peter Baker

Posted on 05/10/2006 7:15:13 PM PDT by Dems_R_Losers

Disaffection over spending and immigration have caused conservatives to take flight from President Bush and the Republican Congress at a rapid pace in recent weeks, sending Bush's approval ratings to record lows and presenting a new threat to the GOP's 12-year reign on Capitol Hill, according to White House officials, lawmakers and new polling data.

Bush and Congress have suffered a decline in support from almost every part of the conservative coalition over the past year, a trend that has accelerated with alarming implications for Bush's governing strategy.

The Gallup polling organization recorded a 13-percentage-point drop in Republican support for Bush in the past couple weeks. These usually reliable voters are telling pollsters and lawmakers they are fed up with what they see as out-of-control spending by Washington and an abandonment of core conservative principles more generally.

There are also significant pockets of conservatives turning on Bush and Congress over the their failure to tighten immigration laws, restrict gay marriage and to put an end to the Iraq war and the rash of political scandals, according to lawmakers and pollsters.

Bush won two presidential elections by pursuing a political and governing model that was predicated on winning and sustaining the loyal backing of social, economic and foreign policy conservatives. The strategy was based on the belief that conservatives, who are often more politically active than the general public, could be inspired to vote in larger numbers and would serve as a reliable foundation for his presidency. The theory, as explained by Bush strategists, is that the president would enjoy a floor below which his support would never fall.

It is now apparent that this floor has weakened dramatically and collapsed in places.

Morris Dees is projecting, as far as perversion and underage girls are concerned.

Dems and pubs both have segments who are for sealing the borders. Sorry. Both parties are patriotic so far as it gets votes and treasonous to the extent they can get away with it.
That is what our political system has become because of the party system and human nature. The minute you treat a group preferentially due to prior behavior, that preference becomes advantage when ethics go out the window. The parties have vast advantages and no morals beyond their packaging. Bush will say 'no amnesty' for the camera one minute then do work everything involved in amnesty into a bill and re-label it a 'worker program'. Somehow because he calls it by another name, we're supposed to dis-associate the two - that's how smart politicians give us all credit for being.. so please spare us.

The GOP shot itself and is bleeding profusely despite high volume and vocal warnings with regard to the consequences of their actions. GOP in independant quarters and Reagan Democrat quarters meant "Greedy Old Pr-cks" until Reagan.
In Reagan's absence... right back to the same ole same ole.
So, is it Bush that I liked - or merely the packaging I was sold. Not sure anymore. But the GOP has no one to blame but itself for where it is heading. Numbers being what they are and falling by anyone's tally including their own, A third party is a healthy bet at this point and a darned likely winner with a candidate who has any real American blood and patriotism flowing in him.

IMHO, there isn't a globalist in America that is other than a traitor. The minute you screw with this nation's sovereignty and our rights, you've surrendered any claim to public office and violated your oath. Everyone that voted for the WTO treaty should be in Prison now for subverting the Constitution and trying to hide behind trade treaty language as an excuse for bypassing the proper constitutional vehicle for what they've done. The WTO treaty is null and void on it's face. Both parties are to blame for that, for Nafta, etc. And Both parties need to be scrapped for the good of this nation before they can do any more damage to us. The only thing that seperates globalist from treason is spelling. And that is the manner in which they should all be regarded. The GOP has outlived its usefulness by its own doing. Time to put it out of it's misery and elect people in this country the way it was intended. Screw the ivy league. Until they can prove their patriotism and dedication to the constitution again, they've no place in any public office.

The rats have been planning to eliminate the electoral college ever since they lost in 2000 because, but for the electoral college, they could've won

So what do you suggest? You think getting all the Freepers to vote for republicans will sway the 2006 elections towards the GOP? Do you see Freepers as a swing vote in this nation of 280 million people?

We Freepers do have a way to influence the outcome of Nov 2006 and that's by demanding that our leaders represent the will of the people NOW and the will of the people is "Secure the borders" and "No Amnesty".

If they fail to show us results before November 2006, no matter how many Freepers vote GOP to avoid the elimination of the electoral college, it wont change a thing regarding the results the day after the Nov. 2006 election.

The average American think the electoral college is a University for God's sake. They are more concerned with the borders, Amnesty and the cost of oil.

I don't approve on CHILD MOLESTERS, wherever the information comes from.
Doesn't someone have to be convicted of child molestation before they can be called a child molester?
Why all of the guilty until proven innocent hysteria lately?

My state, California sucks. Did I mention we have a lot of Mexicans?

Perhaps you should look more closely at the Bush1, Clinton1, Bush2, Clinton2 monarchy that is taking place before your very eyes.

The only way to stop it is to vote outside of this 'bloodline'.

Tammy8,

One of the big problems is we don't have enough jail space. When Gray Davis was Governor we went through living hell trying to get the approval to get one built here in the desert. He was so againgst it. We did finally get one but it was no sooner built and an extension had to be added because it was overflowing and another extension is in the works now making it almost 3 times the size it was originally less than 5 years ago. I don't think it will be any surprise to you when I tell you that 95% of the inmates are hard core illegal aliens.

I still think the closed bases we have here in So. California could be used in some way to house the illegals until such time they're deported back to Mexico since it's apparent all the jails are full to max. That would solve some of the 'catch and release' problem.

Actually, what I am doing is proving that you lied when you said it was an academic discussion.

People like you and your friends, who use communist and racist propaganda to slander patriots, aren't really much worth talking to anymore.

I try to defuse hostility with humor.

But I don't understand the willingness of some people to stick by this guy who seems to have a sketchy background. If the organization/cause is right, which I'm not completely convinced it is, then it can stand losing one guy.

Because we just found out he's a child molester?
