Air America Radio will lose its New York flagship station, WLIB-AM, on Aug. 31. While the left-leaning radio networks original lease for the Inner City station ran out March 31, AAR managed to get an extension which only lasts until Aug. 31, according to an informed source.
Through an agreement with ICBC, WLIB will be operated as a joint venture and be programmed by P1, a company run by former Clear Channel and Jacor Communications executive Randy Michaels. Michaels is expected to program a progressive talk format, but replace AARs network programming with more local programming. A likely addition to the new lineup: Ed Schultz, the left-of-center talker syndicated by P1.
To be clear, Air America will not go silent on the New York City airwaves. We do not, however, comment on hypothetical speculation, said an AAR spokesperson.
Meanwhile, the socialist financed liberal Air America can not hold an audience or make a profit to the point that they will now lose their station in the most liberal city in America next to San Francisco.
Their death is real.
Bush's MSM polls are marshmallow fluff.
FYI
I agree with your analysis, and your assessment of MSM polls!
But, but new hero to some on FR, lou dobbs called air america "star" randi rhodes one of America's "most popular" talks show hosts, while their flagship NYC station goes under.
I'm not surprised. Air(head) America never had good ideas to offer.
The money that Air America stole from the kids was swept under the rug rater quickly by the MSM.
the free market is the most effective poll
What?
They couldn't steal enough money from children's shelters to keep it going?
He left off the word "Air" in front of "America."
Whatever happened with that? It's like a longer running version of Jihwad Cyndy running the checkpoint and slugging the cop.
If they were being listened to, the advertisers would be there.
I thought this was pretty interesting:

This fellow's been a very reliable source on the Air America beat.
D
I actually heard Air America for the first time a couple of days ago on XM radio. My God!!! I felt like I was listening to deranged juvenile delinquents. Just pure nonsense, hatred, bitterness, and insanity. I didn't know whether to be afraid of these lunatics or to laugh at how far gone they are.
Bump!
Actually this is a good/bad news situation. Good that it is one more nail in AAR. Bad though because Randy Michaels is a great radio programmer. Where AAR was inept in it's business model and excecution, Mr. Michaels has none of those fallacies. This will have a very good chance of success as he will have a deep pool of talent to choose from. He knows how to create compelling radio.
He was instrumental in bringing Rush into the Clear Channel fold and knows how to develope talent. This could be very interesting.
"left leaning"??? Jeez, theyre so far left they almost come full circle to right lol. Yet, notice when describing Rush,Sean.etc., they are "far right"???
If Randi has three listeners and the other aar hosts have two, Randi would be "most popular aar host". The term "most popular" also doesn't have to take into account drooling, knuckle dragging, or Depends usage in the listeners, either.
It looks like Free Speech TV is hurting too.
I heard it for the first time, also on XM, last summer. I tried to listen.....worst 15 seconds of my life....(Frankin is about as entertaining as a octogenarian strip-tease....)
