Bush Backs Brother Jeb for White House

By NEDRA PICKLER, Associated Press Writer 9 minutes ago

President Bush suggested Wednesday that he'd like to see his family's White House legacy continue, perhaps with his younger brother Jeb as the chief executive.

The president said Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is well-suited for another office and would make "a great president."

"I would like to see Jeb run at some point in time, but I have no idea if that's his intention or not," Bush said in an interview with Florida reporters, according to an account on the St. Petersburg Times Web site.

The president said he had "pushed him fairly hard about what he intends to do," but Jeb has not said.

"I have no idea what he's going to do. I've asked him that question myself. I truly don't think he knows," Bush said.

Jeb Bush, 53, will end his second term as governor in January. His brother George ends his second presidential term in January 2009. Neither can seek re-election because of term limits.

Jeb Bush has repeatedly said he is not going to run in 2008.

But even his own father said no one believes him when he says he's not interested in running at some point. Former President George H.W. Bush told CNN's "Larry King Live" last year that he would like Jeb Bush to run one day and that he would be "awfully good" as president.

The Florida governor laughed when asked about his father's comments last June. "Oh, Lord," he said and shook his head no. "I love my dad."

And now you know that what I have been saying is true.

King Jorge is setting up the illegals to vote his brother Jeb in as president. Bush gives not one whit for anything but his family legacy. The country be dammed.

I always liked Jeb, he seems a little more conservative than his Brother, but when I heard his pro-illegal commment that ended it for me.

No way, no how, no where.

I'd take GW for a third term. I'd also like to see the entire Senate, save maybe two or three, tossed out.

I like Jeb a lot. He would be a good one, maybe better than either of the other two.

But it does sound a bit like Bush-overload. Surely there is someone else.

I think he may have been joking or may W is really out of touch after all. Not a resident of FL but oil drilling, Shiavo, and illegals come to mind. We should have someone without a dozen negatives.

but from what is being said they are grooming his son to be the first Hispanic President.

That is definitely the rumor....maybe that is why Bush wants to give them citizenship so they can vote!

I doubt he would have a chance at being elected President any time soon, but I wish Jeb would run for the FL Senate seat this November.

ENOUGH OF PRESIDENTIAL FAMILY DYNASTIES. Jeb can't run now. It would mess up the sequence. Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton, Bush in 2016.

A guy who says he was "offended" by the way the Mexican illegals were being treated. Jeb for President? I don't think so.

One more terror attack in this country and Jeb Bush would be in in a heartbeat.

The American public can't nominate him. Only the Republican Party can.

Why Jeb? Because he's a Bush??? I don't think so - this country would want to keep George Bush in the White House - not nominate his brother whom has no experience fighting the war on terror. Giuliani would be more favored than Jeb if there was another attack.

In what? If the terror attack was facilitated by our open borders his brother would be impeached in a heartbeat. No more Bushes, we have enough illegals here already.
