Gingrich: GOP can stop House loss By David M. Brown TRIBUNE-REVIEW

"Will they win? I think that's still up to the Republicans," Gingrich said Tuesday in a meeting with reporters and editors of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Nice collage...but "scare tactics" won't work....The Pubs can return to their base and win the election.....or continue down the Big Government / hispandering path and toss it. It's theirs to lose....Remember..."Cause" always comes before "effect"....Don't blame those who might sit it out....put the blame where it belongs... on the Pubs who are CREATING the situation by wandering over to the liberal squishy-touchy-feely side of things...Ask yourself when the last time Republicans got into office without their conservative base?...It looks like you're tryin to run damage control before a disaster strikes....Instead of making silly collages...why not spend your time more effectively by contacting your GOP members and asking them why they're throwing the next election away.

The blame for electing Democrats lies with the people who voted for them.

A stay at home, that's certainly legit when due to a perce no difference between the candidates or parties, which I presume is your contension. I see a difference in governance, others may not.

Stay at home due to frustration, irrespective of the differences between parties, to "punish" one side or the other. That's stupid.

Third parties, a good option when viable. Nearly 470 seats up for grabs in November, I'm not aware of a viable third party candidate, but there may be one somewhere.

Sorry you don't like people seeing the pics.

What is stupid is needlessly creating the frustration by not enforcing our laws and not living up to the oaths of office these folks took after asking for our support. Go beat on those turkeys to take the right actions unless you are trying to support their current positions. In the latter case let's hear some rational argument other than "vote my way or you're stupid".

There's no question the Administration has been derelict on immigration. The issue should have been addressed in 2001. And it legitimately should have included a guest migrant worker program since it was in the 2002 (and 2004) platform. And yes, politically that's "stupid"

I never said "vote my way or you're stupid", in fact I've suggested on the thread people should vote for Dems if they think they're the better candidate or party, third party if they're viable (none are) makes sense, and I understand staying home if you can't make a decision. In my view if you see differences in govenance between the parties or candidates, staying home to "punish" the party you'd otherwise support is stupid. And if you think it increases your clout within the party, you're dreaming, the vacumn will be filled by others.

I don't agree the vacuum will be filled by anything except perhaps by the sucking sound of the GOP trying to respirate. Who will fill it? The Democrats will vote Democratic, Reagan Democrats will return to the Democrats or abstain, the Independents will vote Dem or abstain, just who will rush to the defense of the derailed GOP and fill the gap of the missing Conservative vote? They had to pull all the stops in 2004 to reelect "Dubya" and there will clearly be a shortfall in '06.It seems to me the only lever that exists to pry the GOP from the grips of their current course is the very real threat that they will lose in '06. You don't do that by condemning the threat. You make the threat very real and force them to deal with it. Someone on another thread said my vote wasn't needed. Well, then what's the problem if I don't give it?

Gingrich is an idea guy. His ill-fated four years as House Speaker ought to convince you that he has few tactical leadership skills.

He couldn't keep his zipper up or his wedding vows.....only a democrat can get by with that!

>>>Oh, and go ahead and target John McCain, particularly. He wants to be President. Dangle the idea that you can get on his friends list (so the fundraisers will start funding you) if he will pull his head out of his ass and support a fence but shut up about amnesty this year, otherwise he can forget about your vote or money ever.

They're not always honest with you.
You don't have to be completely honest with them either.<<<

I think ya got something there. With McCain's huge ego, he has prolly surrounded himself with some serious 'yes men'.
Those types usually see themselves as future Secretary of Defense, or heading up the State Department.
They could have the power to bring him around.
(Just my guess - I don't know anyone associated with McC)

TOUCHE' BUMP! He was the one that brought the House to Republican Majority status with "The Contract With America", and many of the 10 points were eventually made law, yet many seem to ignore this fact.

Isn't there some unwritten rule or courtesy that you're supposed a warning post first . . . giving

LOTS OF WARNING

before posting such a bunch of

FRIGHTFUL, HIDEOUS, SCARY MONSTER PICS?

It was given broad, but shallow coverage during that timeframe. Here's a semi-random link I just googled up (it's an interview with Ron Paul on the subject of the demise of the M3):

ONE CONGRESSMAN'S FIGHT TO SAVE M3

Here's one snippet I grabbed out of it that reinforces what I said in my earlier post:

[T]here's always a deliberate attempt to deflect concern about the money supply so that the common person thinks that inflation is caused by other things.
That's just the tip of the iceberg -- it's a very good article, I recommend reading it in its entirety. Ron Paul pulls no punches.

Here's one more teaser from the article:

What about your colleagues in Congress? Is anyone else asking questions about M3?
Other members of Congress have no interest in it; there's very little interest in monetary policy. I couldn't get anyone to pay much attention to it. In fact, there are a lot of misconceptions. For example, one day I was talking to Greenspan, and one of the members in Congress came up and asked, "Isn't the dollar backed by gold?" This was a member of Congress! That's when I realized we have a lot of work to do.
OK, I cannot resist. ONE more snippet from the article:

What should eventually happen is that the Fed shouldn't be able to buy Treasury bills. The Fed should never be able to finance government spending by buying Treasury bills with credit they create out of thin air. That's the high powered money, but when that gets into the banking system you then have the fractional-reserve-banking principle that allows that to expand that credit by six or seven fold. You expand money supply that way, and that's how M3 expands.
After you read that article, you will not only know that yes, they really did cut off the M3 reporting, but you will also have a sick, sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach as you realize that -- as one of the comments after the article put it -- "we are headed down the German road of the twenties!" The pathetically lame excuse they gave for cutting off the reporting -- to save money! -- make a mockery of the entire situation. It's as if the captain of the Titanic ordered his First Mate to stop directing passengers to the lifeboats, so that he'd be able to replace the washer in the faucet in the bathroom sink because it's dripping water.

This outfit prints up money out of thin air at the drop of a hat, yet, they can't afford the trivial cost of reporting the total amounts? LOL!

Tighten your seatbelt, we are headed down a very bumpy road!

Are we out of good ideas as a Party?

Spending, borrowing, and buying votes isn't a good idea?
