The mass re-enlistment of 640 GIs of the 3rd Armored Calvary Regiment is considered invaluable to the Army's future.
A year ago, as Iraqi fighters detonated a bomb that shattered his convoy, Army Sgt. Gene Braxton led survivors scrambling out of their Humvees in the hot dusty haze to hunt for the triggermen.
Five months later, a bigger roadside bomb rocked the armored vehicle Braxton was in. Reeling from a concussion, he dragged a wounded buddy to safety.
Back in Colorado, Braxton has re-enlisted and will undergo parachute jump training in preparation for a possible third stint of combat duty in Iraq.

We have a "penpal" Service Family from Fort Carson....it's been fun to give them support over the last 3 years....someday hope to meet them. They are hero's...including the families.

Of course this barely made the news. The 3rd ACR is currently enjoying a 135% success rate at its re-enlistment goal. That in a regiment that has served long and hard, and exceptionally well in Iraq. A bunch of studs and great Americans.

So, the mainstream media is reporting on this, right????
um... no, not exactly.
Soldiers - God bless you and thank you! We know and you know the good you are doing. Some day, the rest of the world will know.

At this moment, I'm disgusted...It ain't every day that 640 folks step up and volunteer to die, if need be, for their Country.
Thank God the American Idol thread is going gangbusters.
